Final | England vs Pakistan | Melbourne, 13 November 2022

England definitely deserve it. Gun team who put in gun performances across the whole tournament, including tonight where they outplayed Pakistan (even given the injury, imo).

Stokes doesn't really deserve **** though. He's going to be the talking point hero but Curran and Rashid were massively more significant in the win and he really did very specifically personally benefit from the injury and other general jamminess.
Greats make it count though. Looked like he was batting with a stump for a while out there which makes seeing it through to the end all the more valuable. It’s not a coincidence when ‘luck’ lands on the side of the same bloke over and over and over

To those who we've been lucky today and beating NZ in 2019, there's probably a bit of truth in that.

But luck is a big part of any sport and in the record books there's no asterisks, only winners and we've won today and in 2019 because we're the best white ball team in the world.
Yup, it happens. We lost in 1992 because Miandad survived a plumb LBW early on when Pakistan had already lost early wickets. Plus Pakistan only made it through the group stage because their match against us was rained off after they were dismissed for 70. But they still ended up great champions, so good luck to them.

Agree with it all but didn't ''win'' in 2019.

Haha state of it

Stokes should be criticised because Pakistan weren't good enough to get him out

Er yeah ok

Stokes as a bloke is a complete knob - the Bristol incident with Hales was horrendous.

As a cricketer, he's exceptional under pressure. He's now seen us home in 2 W Cup finals - that's not luck, it's class.

Maybe I just haven't paid enough attention but I think the T20I format needed a great World Cup to be taken seriously. I'm sure there's been some good ones but other than maybe the first none stick to the mind too much. This one I think will be well remembered despite the rain and the lack of a truly great final.
Surely this was a a great final. Sure, Afridi went off injured, but I suspect England would have still got the runs. They were always within reach.

best white ball team in the world. they deserved this win. Cruised into the Semis despite dropping points vs Ireland. Came into the tournament with injury issues and a weakened squad but still looked like the best side.

Shame about the racism plaguing their cricket structures and a **** like Hales still being in the team, but it is what it is.
