Well done England. Pakistan too on a top final.

Great tourney, loads of fun to start the summer. Good intro into real cricket and easily the best World T20 ever, as befits it being held in the greatest country on earth.
Maybe I just haven't paid enough attention but I think the T20I format needed a great World Cup to be taken seriously. I'm sure there's been some good ones but other than maybe the first none stick to the mind too much. This one I think will be well remembered despite the rain and the lack of a truly great final.

Congrats England, highly fancied batting side and yet their bowling was exceptional and won the match.

Also loved Pakistan's pace battery, absolute top quality.

Can't really celebrate full on. Left wondering what would have happened if Pakistan had got through the game without injuries. Suspect it would have been a close, thrilling finish, or reliant on someone hitting out and taking the risk.
Haha wtf who cares

Generally in these matters I tend to find what actually happens tends to be of greater importance than hypotheticals re: what could have happened

To those who we've been lucky today and beating NZ in 2019, there's probably a bit of truth in that.

But luck is a big part of any sport and in the record books there's no asterisks, only winners and we've won today and in 2019 because we're the best white ball team in the world.

In the end you can't say England didn't deserve it, even if you wonder what would've happened if Afridi was able to bowl his full quota. Pakistan's batting just not good enough, they needed everyone to bowl lights out to pinch the win here and while they went close, the Afridi injury and Wasim not doing enough as the 5th bowler hurt.

Was a pretty entertaining game for much of it. Shame it didn't go as tight as it should've.
England definitely deserve it. Gun team who put in gun performances across the whole tournament, including tonight where they outplayed Pakistan (even given the injury, imo).

Stokes doesn't really deserve **** though. He's going to be the talking point hero but Curran and Rashid were massively more significant in the win and he really did very specifically personally benefit from the injury and other general jamminess.

You can only beat what is front of you England should have no regrets about celebrating
Nah what happens in reality must be discounted immediately

Instead we should decide whether England should have won on the basis of what ifs

I mean what if Afraid wasn't made of glass, and suddenly Wasim and Waqar in their prime suddenly appeared?! England would have had no chance! Better void the result

Congrats, England. The best team in the world but also very undeserving winners.

On a cricketing level, England's only real achievement in white ball cricket before this was being handed a trophy after a match they didn't even win. Now they looked ready to choke a small chase but were handed a huge stroke of luck with the Shaheen injury. They also only beat pathetic teams on the way to the final. England was handed a fake win at the real world cup a few years ago and have now been handed a fake win at a fake world cup.

At the end of the day it's a shame that a cricketing nation rife with institutional racism against Asians (with the most high profile case being a Pakistani origin cricketer) won the game through sheer luck and not skill for the second time. Its also rather unfortunate that England has many cricket fans (both in grounds and on the Internet) that dislike brown people and consider them sub-human. However I have faith that some of these fans can try to be marginally less dire.
I see th has handed you the drunk posting baton
