Yeah, and just beginning to realize how frustrating it must have been for NZ fans to wait on Shane Bond's recoveries.

Shoaib Akhtar too......

when Shoaib wasn't injured he was fighting with other members of the team or under suspension due to one disciplinary reason or the other

Bond was never lazy or unfit though. He was a perfectionist and a true champion.

Ryder is the perfect comparison in this instance imo.

Dunno, there's no proof that Zaheer's lazy actually. It's just speculation from us based on his flabby arms that he didn't work out during his injury. Unfit yes, but lazy perhaps not.

A genuine inswinger on demand.
I don't think he has it on demand per say. And Steyn can bowl it pretty well too, when required.
Did it against India at crucial times.

Also Steyn has shown himself to be better at Reverse so far, and also at roughing a player up with short balls on even slower pitches with really aggressive bowling.

I think Zaheer has been at or about Anderson's level for longer, but his regular unavailability puts Anderson ahead by a fair margin of late.
Zaheer IIRC had a marginally better record recently than both Anderson and Steyn, when fit. But obviously a lot more injury prone than those 2.

Really, can you give examples of MOST of these English journalists because I haven't heard too many, if any ever say that.
The funny thing is even the most one eyed England fans wouldn't put Anderson above Steyn but some of the clap trap that's been typed in this thread is cringe-worthy.
Most is probably over doing it but The Cricketer and All Out Cricket both claimed that Anderson was the best bowler in the world.

Yeah. I mean, if you had to choose Zaheer or Anderson ATM I'd have to go with Andrrson because I'd be worried Zaheer wouldn't get through the match.

awta even though Zaheer probably a more versatile bowler than Anderson. Just that he isn't on the park most days of the year.

His body is not designed to bowl fast

I think the gap between Wasim and McGrath seems a lot less than between the gap between Anderson and Steyn
hahha agreed! I was reading that post with a "wtf" expression thinking the difference between mcgrath and wasim is 1-2 runs while anderson and steyn is what, close to what, 8 runs now?

he under-utlizes it to be honest and Anderson's inswinger is by better by some distance.

true ....

Steyn under-utilizes the in-dipper and the yorker , concentrating mainly on the pace, accuracy, bounce and outswing.

Anderson at times tries too many things

I don't think Anderson has ever really "ripped it" at any point of his career because he IS a second tier bowler, so I would be more worried about the next 5 months, let alone 5 years.:)

But...if he can do something worthwhile in the next 5 months I will be happy to eat humble pie, the question is will the deluded do likewise?
We clearly have somewhat different views on cricket. I'll continue to hold the opinion that Steyn is the A-league bowler followed by Anderson and Khan in B-league. And these two bowlers being significantly better than Morkel, Gul, Southee and the others.

No issues with people agreeing to disagree. Let's do that here!
