Maybe if he'd scored more runs and wasted fewer balls the other batsmen wouldn't have gotten out trying to move things alongBorder 98* and 100* in the second test of the Aus tour to WI in 84.

noHaven't you got a school dam to go and dig or something?
And two of the pace bowlers were Wayne Daniel and Milton Small lolThe spinners bowled like half the overs during Borders hundred lol
Border came in at 114-4 as well so he probably avoided most of Marshall’s and Garner’s oversAnd two of the pace bowlers were Wayne Daniel and Milton Small
Daniel, Small, Richards and Gomes bowled 75 of the 112 overs of that innings so yeah, not a fantastic knock against the fearsome WI pace bowlersBorder came in at 114-4 as well so he probably avoided most of Marshall’s and Garner’s overs
Jeff Crowe's 112 at Sabina Park in 1985 was apparently a very good attacking innings. He batted at 3 and came in at 1–13. Martin Crowe had a golden home series against the Windies in 86/87, including scores of 104, 119 and 83 across the three tests. In his book he said when he was bowled on 83 it was the first pre-meditated shot he'd played all series.Jeff Crowe wasn't anywhere near the batsman that Martin was but he had a few decent knocks against the West Indies.
Wow Wasim Raja has such a great record against WI that was surprising to know he's never talked about muchThis is an excellent article on who fared best against the West Indies of old
Who was the best against the famous four-pronged West Indian pace attack? — CricketMash
It is widely accepted that the most difficult bowling attack ever was the four-pronged West Indian pace machine that dominated world cricket for nearly 20 years. Arunabha Sengupta looks at the numbers to see who the best batsmen were against fearsome fast bowling.cricmash.com
Why are people trying to say Daniel wasn’t a good fast bowler?Daniel, Small, Richards and Gomes bowled 75 of the 112 overs of that innings so yeah, not a fantastic knock against the fearsome WI pace bowlers
According to Charles Davis's database, Border was in during 4 (out of 15) overs from Garner, 15.3 (out of 22) from Marshall, all 9 from Daniel, 4 (out of 14) from Small, and all 52 overs from Gomes and Richards. (Plus the 1 ball from Logie at the end to give him his 100).Border came in at 114-4 as well so he probably avoided most of Marshall’s and Garner’s overs
Slater averaged 46 in the 98/99 Ashes: no-one else has scored 3 hundreds in a series and averaged under 50. (Edit - no-one else other than Lamb with 42, as stated above).I think Slater got 3 and averaged even less in 98/99 ashes
Literally Allan Lamb as mentioned in this thread..Slater averaged 46 in the 98/99 Ashes: no-one else has scored 3 hundreds in a series and averaged under 50.
(Curious fact: the two lowest averages by a batter scoring 4 hundreds in a series are both by Herbert Sutcliffe. To be fair to him, it's only been done 21 times by anyone).
Think he meant barring Lamb as the post he was replying to was the one that suggested Slater averaged less than Lamb.Literally Allan Lamb as mentioned in this thread..
