LOL, advertisers would fall all over themselves. He would have made a killing via Google ads if he put them on.
This one post says that he is indeed fake. This dude has nice creativity though...

The light's almost fixed now. I will rush back. And guys! A big surprise. I am sending this from the Coach's laptop. The guy roams with a global internet sim card, all charged to Dildo bhaiyya! Haha. Mr. Gavaskar, pls write about this...
He would have been caught after this one statement if indeed he posted it from the coach's laptop..and the blog would have been closed...

His brand of humour is Indian and that is where his mouth is.
I understand his Indian brand of humour. I even understand the language as I'm of part Indian heritage. And I still don't find him amusing. I don't think referring to a country as Dickland is funny in the least bit.

However you cannot deny that this blog was hugely successful in terms of the general evaluative measurements of success of a blog.
The blog is not hugely successful. While I would agree that it has a loyal group of visitors who have some free time to kill, it caters to a very very small section of Indian cricket fans. I would be surprised if any corporate is that desperate.

Been through this extensively already. It is very popular and it gets a huge amount of hits and activity. That makes it successful in blog terms. I don't see how you can dispute this.

Its also crossed over and garnered a profile outside of the Internet, which would make it attractive.

Its gone all jingoistic of late IMO. Especially since the start of the IPL, the guy has lost the balls to so much as say a single bad word about any India player

Athlai

Not Terrible
Conversely Cricketweb.net is 33713 on the net and 2350 in India.
Cricinfo is 187th on the net and 15th in India.

No. of hits can't be a criteria for being 'successful'. I would like to see how many unique hits it gets. IMO it is mostly the same group of people that keeps visiting the site in search of new content.

Yeah, the decline obviously occurred with the completion of the IPL and the break the guy seems to have taken. Still, those figures from Athlai speak for themselves. I wonder what they would have been at the blog's peak during the season. Hugely successful.
