Faulkner as skipper, surely?
That's my thinking as well. Have to admit I don't know if he ever skippered, but the esteem his coaching was held in, as well as the fact he's effective in both batting and bowling makes me lean towards him. I'll just edit it in.

Yeah any team that has Bradman and Sobers is going to be hard to beat, lucky boy getting first pick in both those rounds.
Plus he got Grimmett first pick too. His team really is fantastic. Even if you take away Bradman and Sobers he still has plenty of quality. Will be tough to beat.

Sunil Gavaskar

1 Stewie Dempster
2 Sunil Gavaskar
3 Charles Macartney
4 Graeme Pollock
5 Kevin Pietersen
6 Doug Walters
7 Ian Healy
8 Alan Davidson
9 Curtly Ambrose
10 George Lohmann

Lohmann to bowl unchanged and skittle the opposition out for 107.5 :)

Steve Waugh to complete my lineup. Perfect fit for my team, one of the greatest batsman of all time, tough leader of an all conquering side, and most important provides the extra 5th bowling option my side needs.

Not overly worried about ground selection, I feel my team is well rounded. When the weakest link in my side is Farni de Villiers then I think I am doing ok. I will do a full write-up at the conclusion of the ground selection.

1. V Trumper
2. B Woodfull
3. B Richards
4. M Crowe
5. S Waugh C
6. M Jayawardene
7. J Dujon WK
8. R Lindwall
9. M Holding
10. F de Villiers
11. B O'Reilly

Very tough choice between a couple of modern greats but in the end I had to go for Brian Lara, which completes this side:

1. Arthur Morris
2. Len Hutton
3. Brian Lara
4. Kumar Sangakkara (wk)
5. Inzamam Al Huq
6. Ted Dexter
7. Keith Miller (c)
8. Maurice Tate
9. Frank Tyson
10.Colin Croft
11.Jack Iverson

Not the best side in this draft but there are few more entertaining, has got some great characters from the history of the game, to be led by one of the greatest of all, Keith Miller.

Gah, cbf thinking anymore. Will go for the obvious choice in Anil Kumble.

1) Merchant
2) Greenidge
3) Abbas
4) Weekes
5) Worrell (*)
6) Imran Khan
7) Dhoni (+)
8) Kumble
9) Lillee
10) Bond
11) Barnes

Pretty happy with that. Bit of a long tail, but the bowling strength more than makes up for it, imo.

Now for the not so easy task of determining the best team.

Don't think that its the best, but the team I'd most rather watch is Fredfertang's. Entertainment and style from top to bottom.

Got to pick grounds as well I think.

Yeah, pretty worthless round to have first pick in, considering I know nowt about pitch behavior before I started watching.

Will pick Lord's anyway.

Think my team will play at a proper WACA wicket, will just let Colin Croft and Frank Tyson go mental.

My team has no need for a pitch favouring spin or seam. Will go for MCG simply because it is my local stadium, and a great team needs a big stadium for the fans.

St George's Park Port Elizabeth, South Africa

Love matches in South Africa and Ambrose and Davidson killed it when they played at this ground. Bedi will have to adapt..
