English Domestic Season 2025

Jordan Cox hit a ton against England B, is he still second choice behind the stumps or has that ship sailed for now?
Doesn't really keep but then Pope has worn the gloves several times. Looked out of his depth when he was in the coloured clothing but I think he's got more chance in the Test team anyway.

Worcestershire fell like a pack of cards, Somerset did bowl a great spell but its a little bit worrying for the season ahead. Conditions aren't exactly bowler friendly as they have been in previous years in the opening weeks of the season.
Kasey Aldridge doesn't have great numbers but he strikes me as a bowler that Baz, Stokesey and Keysey might like.

England don’t seem to care for specialised roles, Cox was the spare batter who also happened to be able to keep, the issue for him is that he’s far from the only player who fits that bill, and now that Bethell has got off to a good start in his Test career, it may well be that he keeps his place in the squad directly in place of Cox with Pope as the backup wicketkeeper

Bats too, and while I don’t know if he could develop into a genuine top 7 batter (which we could definitely do with as Stokes’ body is failing him in his 30s), he could easily be a number 8

An overall career strike rate of a lick over 50, but he did hit a brisk 78 against Sri Lanka last year, never going to harm your case of getting into Brendon McCullum’s team

Very decent start for Essex, and a great attendance for day one of the County Championship. Reports are that it’s a pretty flat deck at Chelmsford though so plenty of work still to be done!

Second innings. Crawley breezes to 30 and then somehow slaps a limp short ball straight to extra cover. Makes a change from nicking off I suppose.

Ollie Robinson keeping things tidy whilst Seales getting the treatment. Yet Seales is opening the bowling for the Windies and Robinson can't get a game

Looks like the Edgbaston pitch curator can't blame the Kookaburra like he did after the woeful pitch he put up against Durham this time last year.

Seems set for another bore draw

300 up for Banton...

What a bad start of the season for Worcestershire, But credit to Banton that's impressive
