Does the 100 actually make money for the ECB?
Haven't they just sold it off and made a packet? Albeit not for themselves as they are mainly giving it away to the first class counties and a little to the "recreational game". Will be interesting see how the recreational game portion is given out / made available.Does the 100 actually make money for the ECB?
He's injured but Kellaway is an ambidextrous spinner. And that presumably means he'll keep Mason Crane out of Glamorgan's red ball side? Hmmm.
Aye I know what you mean. I went down to the Cheltenham festival in 2023 just to check it out really and I felt really out of place. Then again I am from a family of coal miners in the north east so Cheltenham College was like a different world.Just my socialist tendencies coming out, but I hate county cricket being played at public schools. Feels really archaic.
The thing is as well Derbyshire have the best out ground on the circuit (imo) at Chesterfield so not sure why they need to play at some toff school in the middle of nowhere.Aye I know what you mean. Used to play on the "all weather" pitch at my place. Basically just a big yard of sandy clay that was either dusty or waterlogged depending on the weather. If you could bat on that you could bat on anything!I say we should make counties play one game a year at a comprehensive, on a cigarette-burned artificial wicket in the middle of a football pitch.
Sedbergh does have a beautiful backdrop and they do produce a good wicket to play on. Unfortunately their excellent facilities aren't necessarily available for the County to use.I saw a match a few years back [on tv] at Sedgeburh school somewhere in the north and it a looked a wonderful setting for cricket.
I rarely feel more ‘in place’ than at a county championship match. They are frequented by a small number of people of similar interest, similar temperament and no one is there unless they really want to be there.Aye I know what you mean. Which would lead me to wonder why on earth you have such conservative tendencies, given that they aren’t there to serve your interestsPart of its charm, And its my Conservative tendencies coming out that i like public schools
Of course i wasn't good enough or my family rich enough to go to them
