English Domestic Season 2024

I wonder whether Foakes' latest injury (due to a back spasm, apparently) might be the one that causes England's selectors to give up on him. He does seem rather injury prone, and his form with the bat hasn't been stellar anyway,

Hopes and dreams already crushed, still we were never really as good as ***rey and Essex.

And yeah great to see Stokes bowling well, can Jordan get injured and us draft him in for the World Cup?

Alex Davies carries his bat today 127* out of 284 after Hameed carries his bat 247* from 503 as week or so ago. Twice is carelessness?

A couple of those deliveries in the highlights reel swung back into the right-hand batter devilishly - just like that 6-22 vs the WI when he was hooping it round corners.

Jordan Cox may leapfrog into the test team if he keeps this up. Excellent recruitment from Essex, as has been the norm for the last decade or so.

Looking good for Essex, though I understand that Sam Cook has picked up an injury at just the wrong time. Hopefully nothing too bad.

Interesting/sad bit of trivia, IIRC Russell Warren, the third umpire in the T20 yesterday, triggered a massive falling out between the players at Northants in the early 2000s after sleeping with his teammate’s fiancée.

I recall that one. We don’t get many *** scandals in county cricket.

Gloucestershire have just broken their 5th wkt partnership record that had been held since 1876.
Surprisingly it was only 261 by W.G Grace & Moberley at Cheltenham v Yorkshire.

Bracey & van Buuren the new holders.

No play at New Road for the second day out of 3.
This ground really has problems as they have played everywhere else today, even at Bristol before they went off for rain before lunch.

Felix Organ's first-class bowling stats pretty good, hadn't realised.
He generally has only really bowled in helpful conditions. Has spent most of his career trying generally unsuccessfuly to be an opening batsman. Really showing signs now that he could be a frontline bowler though.

Two county partnership records gone this season.

Unbelievable result
Now that's what you call a hammering.
I always said Hampshire were more than capable of beating Surrey, but I won't pretend that I thought they'd do it by an innings and almost 300.
Anyway, very well played your boys. Not quite so well played by mine.

Harry Finch given out LBW when he was well outside the line. All 3 stumps were visible.

I've seen some umpiring shockers in my time but this was really bad.
