English Domestic Season 2023

At the moment we're getting the arse end of a couple of hurricanes from the Atlantic. The second one due at the weekend.

Next week the forecast is much better so hopefully there will be plenty of play in the final round of matches.

Really need the weather to hold out for the next couple of days. Decent position for Essex to be in relative to Hampshire and Northants managed to pull a few runs out of the bag to put a little pressure on Surrey. Essex need to be able to eek out a win here. Looks like occasional play on Thursday with a full day in the offing on Friday.

Winning by scaring the opposition? Thought only the Australians did that

Has there ever been a less aesthetically pleasing opening partnership than Rory Burns and Dom Sibley? Such a contrast with the rest of Surrey's batting too.

Looks like the game is up for Northants. Weather not been kind after having the better of the Warks game and now rocking Surrey. They punched above their weight last year but it always felt like they'd slip out of Div 1 this season.

Hard to see any of the Div 1 games having a positive result unless there are some creative declarations or Middlesex tumble in a heap again.

Northants could win tomorrow, as could Essex, however it would take a mighty effort on both of their parts. More likely is that Surrey take a Handy lead into the final round, perhaps requiring only bonus points.

It seemed briefly today as if Leicestershire had a handy lead in a low scoring match however if Yorkshire continue to bat well In the second innings, Worcestershire could be all but promoted by this time tomorrow.

At least Middlesex and Kent look as if they will be pretty even going into next week.

Yeah, I think that thanks to Keith Barker's excellent support for Tom Prest, the Hants/Essex game is heading for a draw - unless some contrived shenanigans. Shame. That rain impacted Essex/Surrey Draw in May where Essex were well in the box seat has had a significant impact. Not that the Surrey batsmen weren't fighting hard in the 4th innings, but they still needed 120 with only 3 wickets remaining.

Amid all the talk of possible alignment of counties and franchises Lancashire sign another OT based franchise player (Mitchell Stanley becoming the latest to leave Worcestershire) was it something Giles said?

Drawn at the Oval. Heroic effort from the Northants bowlers but alas too little, too late in the context of our season.

Will the rain relent for long enough to allow Warks to defeat Middx?
