England thread

I just don’t get Englands whole thing of focusing on one format whether it be tests or odis. It seems they can be real good in one format only at a time. But it doesn’t make sense to me because they have a board with plenty of money and resources as well as more players coming through than most other countries.

You also got players that are good in all 3 formats plus you also got plenty of franchise cricket around which many of these English guys play that helps you in odis and t20s there’s plenty of t20 and odi specialists around as well

I don’t think this word cup is just some one of failure for them, not making the semis by a bit one thing but coming nearly last on the table is crazy. Think they’re in for a rebuild and if they don’t take it seriously they could continue to struggle in odis

Whatever it takes!!!
TBF, I think those first two Ashes Tests were the only times they really went off the rails. Pakistan away was maybe the most ridiculously Bazball-y Bazball series of the lot and that was a massive success.
I meant those first two tests and that one test in NZ.

Norwood's on Fire
Tbf though in all three we were ROBBED

Lack of a wide being called in NZ cost us the series and at least a tie
Crawley and Duckett being forced to bat in pitch black at Edgbaston cost us the Test
If you play an innings like Stokes did at Lord's, you should just be given the win

I said this a few days ago tbf. Contracts run until 30th September so it’s not a surprise

The England team is full of great blokes, but even aside from that - seeing TJB, Burgey and Son of Coco complain about them is hilarious given they all have a hard on for the Big Dick Cricket peak Australia sides liked to play.
I'm not complaining about them at all. I love what they are doing.

And if you really knew me, you'd know I am a tiny dick cricket man.

I feel like this is dogmatic rubbish, based on nothing more than his old man being a billionaire. Everything I've heard is that he's a pretty humble, genuine team guy who doesn't sledge, works hard and wants to do well. And has copped far too much **** for being born with a silver spoon in his mouth, which is nowhere within his control.
It is in his control to score runs tho.

Actually no because he is a nepo baby who can't bat at Test level.

i should say, this ofc doesn't mean he shouldn't get credit for that ashes - he absolutely should - but needs to back it up before claims can be made that he is anything other than dogwater lol

My point is around the bull**** he gets for being born into a well-to-do family. It's lame. Nothing that anyone has seen suggests he's arrogant, lazy, or anything but committed to being the best player he can be.

he's certainly had waaaaaaay more chances to be the best player he can be than other players and a reasonable assumption to make given the culture around the english cricket setup is that has something to do with it though

It's because everyone knows that on balance people born into wealth are generally better people. So they get jealous and lash out
