Lmao so good
The irony is that they're still not mathematically out of it either!! And now they've got to play to qualify for a tournament that most of them wouldn't even be at anyway. Can they not just all go home already? This format is so bad. No team should still be playing matches in a World Cup after this many defeats.
I think it tells us something. When we were discussing England's prospects before the tournament, one of the reasons I was suggesting that we're not as good as we were was the failure of most of them to have any sort of impact in the IPL. Did even Buttler contribute much in the games that he did play? Ditto Moeen? I know it's a different format to the current WC, but I thought it told us something about their form nowadays and/or stage of their careers.this might mean little but the only 2 guys who played significant number of matches in this year's ipl were buttler and moeen
root warmed benches with RR, stokes was not risked by csk because of injury concerns, malan no, bairstow injured, livingstone yes but no impact, woakes no, rashid not much, wood maybe 4 games including one 5fer, willey not much, brook hit a 100 on a road
in comparison, nz, aus and sa players featured constantly
Yeah and they sucked the hardest here.this might mean little but the only 2 guys who played significant number of matches in this year's ipl were buttler and moeenq
Have English players ever really had a massive impact on the IPL (bar Buttler's one huge year)? Didn't stop them reaching the Final in India in 2016 (should've won) and various other limited overs success.this might mean little but the only 2 guys who played significant number of matches in this year's ipl were buttler and moeen

Buttler went ok but didn't stand out like he did the year before.I think it tells us something. It's weird though. The Australian and Indian team are not exactly full of young folk. If anything, not a dissimilar age profile for them.Have English players ever really had a massive impact on the IPL (bar Buttler's one huge year)? Just seem like a team that have gone on a year too long, but even then are completely devoid of confidence and form.
I suspect there's something going on behind the scenes too, there kind of has to be you'd think. It's weird though. The Australian and Indian team are not exactly full of young folk. If anything, not a dissimilar age profile for them.
I guess this will come out in the wash. Can't see Buttler staying as captain. It may be that one or two of the white ball specialists perhaps retire from international duty to chase the t20 coin.I suspect there's something going on behind the scenes too, there kind of has to be you'd think.
I think Buttler will stay as I don't see too many alternatives. They gave Crawley the Ireland series, but I think there's more obvious batsmen to come into the team from that squad than him (Salt, Jacks, Hain, Duckett).I guess this will come out in the wash. If Root wants to play ODIs going forwards then we should absolutely keep him around. But he has to actually play them.I think Buttler will stay as I don't see too many alternatives. But working the way through the team from yesterday:
Bairstow - if he doesn't find form we have younger alternatives coming through
Malan - Should probably be moved on given his age and alternatives
Root - Retire, Hain can do this job better now
Stokes - Retire
Buttler - remain
Moeen - See ya
Livingstone - Remain, but only as a squad player
Woakes - Time to move on
Willey - Keep as squad player
Wood - I'd rather he went red ball only now but suspect he'll be retained in squads going forward
Rashid - Keep for T20 World Cup then move on
No point playing Stokes or Ali in any remaining games in this comp.
There may be a point in keeping Buttler for the next t20 world cup, but surely he shouldn't really be involved in the near term ODIs if proper succession planning is going to be undertaken. I take the point re Crawley not being top of the pile, but further thought needs to be given for the future of the ODI team as Buttler is unlikely to be around for 2027.I think Buttler will stay as I don't see too many alternatives. Yes. The test series in India is going to be fun.england are spooked by slightly different bounce
they will be fine if there is no challenges poised by pitches in limited overs
1 SaltI'd happily see us go back to three captains.
Stokes in Tests
Brook/Crawley or A N other in ODIs
Buttler in t20s
