England Lions Tour of Australia and England U19 Tour of South Africa

SA won the 2nd ODI and England currently batting in the 3rd are 116-4 in the 29th over.

Just quickly flicked onto it and looks tough scoring against spinners.

England have collapsed from 146-4 to 156 all out.

Both in this team and the Lions the batting looks really weak. Credit to Harry Moore who got stumped first ball!!

Pat Brown with 5/21 and Cook 2/31 the pick of the bowlers as they dismiss CAXI for 214.

Doesn't look the best of returns for Tongue and Bashir as the only previous test apperances in the squad.

Lions 64/1 at Stumps with McKinney dismissed for a fluent 32.
How does Brown get 5 wickets?

I really don't know what's the point of taking 16 year old Rocky Flintoff on the Lions tour when he could be playing with the U19's in SA?

He batted #7 in first game but he's slotted in at #8 this game and doesn't bowl. It's like they made it a 13 a side game just so they could give Flintoff a bat?

Edit: and of course Fintoff now gets a ton batting #9 😄

I'm slightly perplexed Vaughan and Ahmed are with the U19s and he is with the Lions. As them two have shown to be more than capable at a first class level and Flintoff hasn't shown that until now.

But Vaughan is an opening bat and decent spinner and Farhan is very much a 10/11 with the bat and very decent spinner. Whereas Flintoff has been batting 4-8 for Lancs, so somewhat of a slot into the Lions over them two.

Seem England have wanted Bashir to get a go in Australia before the Ashes rather than looking at the next cab off the rank.

You could have argued Flintoff pick being nepotism as his dad the coach. He's perhaps been picked on potential rather than ability by both Lancs and England. Think both probably feeling vindicated now.

That looks to be some knock too. 89 added for the last 2 wickets in which his partners made just 9. At least he seems to know how to farm the strike, unlike a female counterpart!!

James Rew having a nightmare Lions game vs CA XI as faced only 3 balls for 2 ducks. Finishes with 37 runs @ 9.25 for the CA series

Nothing against Rew but I'm always glad to see keepers batting higher than 6 fail. If it was good enough for Gilchrist to bat 7 then it should be good enough for all keepers 😉

Strong fight back by England U19s
Looks like a decent game brewing as SA managed to do largely the opposite to the England innings. England got to 299 despite their early issues, whilst SA have collapsed from 212-2 to 269-8. Anyone's game.....

I had seen chat saying Farhan was a better bowler than Rehan before Farhan had even played senior cricket.

Already he's been like a duck to water in FC cricket. Debut against Sri Lanka takes 3 wickets, follows that up with a his maiden fifer and a 12fer against the County Champions. Has taken a wicket in all 7 FC innings and averaging just 23.

Now he's scoring a 90 with the bat when his side was 96/5 and he follows it up with a 3fer and counting.

He's done all that and he's still nearly a month away from 17!

In the absence of the BBL, I've stuck on the U19 Test. Looks like the wicket has gone flat, England struggled to get the last 2 SA tailenders (319 all out, lead of 20) and now the opening partnership has headed to Lunch, largely untroubled at 44-0.

As an aside, it brings back great memories watching a ball go for 4 at speed and then heading out into an open playing field, so the fielder has an extra 50 yards to go to retrieve it!!

Ha! Indeed.

Remember school days over multiple fields and it would sometimes go past the inbetween and on the other playing field.
