Cut it out you two, it isn't relevant to this thread.

If you don't like it you don't have post in this thread. Nobody has forced you to post inthis thread so if it is such a problem - don't post.

Luke Young will obviously go (unless we aren't planning on having a reserve right-back), as I suspect Nicky Butt might too depending on his form once he's fit.

I'm a fan of Wayne Bridge, but even when fit I can't see him displacing del Horno.

If you're looking for a long-shot to make it how about Carlton Cole? He'll need to play firstly, but he's a far better header of the ball than Crouch so if Sven's planning on using direct football he's a possibility.

How about Dyer?

If Butt is not only playing well he will go on the virtue of his last tournament when Pele waxed lyrical over him.

Dyer by name... :p

Nah, he's constantly injured when he's not getting himself into, er, scrapes with the opposite ***. I think he'll be one of those players who never quite fulfills his promise.

Yeah, I agree. I saw him when he was 19 playing for Ipswich and he was something else, a very talented player - he's pretty much thrown it away now though.

Woodgate actually has to play a game for Real Madrid before he can get picked.
He has played now though, hasn't he?

Craig said:
Before that I just thought he was an Englishman living in Madrid earning £80,000 per week (according to the report I read after his move there) and doing stuff all.
He's made a major effort to fit in with learning the language etc. - apparantly lot more of an effort than a certain Mr Owen...

Bit like Winston Bogarde.
Not really, because Woodgate wants to play, Bogarde didn't care.

yea i kinda feel Young might go and it would be a bit unwise to go without a reserve right-back but i feel Woodgate should go, couldn't sven experiment with that position if Neville gets injured during the tournament. Butt may go it will be interesting to see who gets the spot between him Carrick & Hargreaves...

Get hargreaves as far away from the squad as possible.

GK: Robinson, Kirkland, Carson

DF: Neville, Rio, Carragher, Cole, Terry, Campbell, Bridge, King/Woodgate

MF: Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham, Wright Phillips, Cole, Downing, Parker, Carrick

CF: Owen, Rooney, Defoe, C.Cole, Crouch

Darren Bent if he carries on current form.

I think 24 man squads are overkill, I presume replacements are allowed during the tournament for injured players?

I'd be therefore tempted to go for a variety of attacking options (once you've got the first 11, a back-up keeper, 2 defenders, 2 midfielders and a forward) who might be suited towards certain teams, players like Crouch, Dyer, Wright-Phillips etc.

1. Where does Carson play for again, why would u have him in front of Green?

2. Why pick Bridge when their is Carrager has a reserve left back?

3. Dowing & Parker over Jenas & Murphy?

4. No way hesky or bent would be infront of him surely...

I rate Parker over Jenas and id definetly take Carrick

Carragher could be picked as a reserve right-back, you know.

Bridge on the left is certainly better than anyone they can find to be reserve right.

EDIT: Carson plays for Liverpool, if i'm not mistaken.

Because Carragher is an emergency cover, Bridge is geniune left back.

A squad of 23 (which I believe is the actual limit) leaves you enough to pick a first 11, 1 to cover for each spot, and a 3rd keeper.

Ermmm.....yes, frankly, although Parker over Murphy is a tough call. But Jermaine Jenas is second only to Andy Johnson as the worst England player of the past two years - behind even Crouch.

well i'd be disappointed if Carrager misses out but Bridge would go then, that just shows how strong our defence is eh :  and if the squad is actually 23 then one of the strikers could miss out (Hesky)
