Been a busy work day so haven't caught a delivery.

A disappointing defeat incoming, but we don't have a seamer like O'Neill and Tongue and that's been the difference in the game.

That being said on paper looks like an awful collapse from 268/5 to 279 all out.

But when you've got bowlers that can run through a side on a flatter pitch that's where you can win/lose the game.

Shame reading what @The Red Telephone via @SuperSub has said about De Leede not playing red ball this season!

Feels a bit of a slap in the face he wants to chase T20 coin when we've given him a platform as a domestic player.

Wayne Entwistle No 9 has resigned his OP role after our opening defeat today so I've been dragged kicking and screaming out of retirement to do the Warwickshire game on SMB.:D

I told you last season, WE decide when your time is up 😂

I didn’t get chance to follow yesterday too closely, but caught up when I could, it’s hugely frustrating losing that game but in every key moment our lads were found wanting. I know it’s only one game and we have two players to come in who the club will envisage being our starters - but it’s a concern that we were soundly beaten by what in truth is a bang average outfit. O’Neill aside, their bowling was as vanilla as ours - I’m not buying the hype around Tongue, his spell yesterday broke the game open, but for the first three and a half days he was shite.

I’m trying to work out which part of our game was worse, the batting or bowling, McKinney and Robinson surrendered pretty meekly twice, Gay with a pair, nothing needs to be added to that, Ackermann is the only player who can take any credit away from the game. There will be better days, it’s a long season, but worse teams than us will make the scabs look average this season. The vanilla bowling I’ve already alluded to needs help, I don’t think three frontline seamers is the way to go and with our batting depth I think perhaps Campbell needs to find a way to get a fourth seamer involved. Based on a small sample size, I think Rhodes needs to be utilised as the fifth seam option, no more. Parky for Drissell next week too I would suspect.

I'm minded to drop Drissell, go with the extra seamer (Doggett is available on Friday) and use Ackermann as the spin option. It's not ideal but it's the only way I can see how we can strengthen the bowling attack without dropping a batter. Our red ball spin department simply hasn't performed well enough since 2023 and with no genuine all rounder this year it's going to be tough to get the right balance in the side.
