If Potts not available I would add Young Stanley to your side 👍
He’s done nothing during his time with us to suggest he’s worth another go (this is not me writing him off by the way), which highlights just how much of a concern our bowling reserves are right now. When fully fit and available, there probably is only one county better, but going into the start of the Championship we could see only one fit and experienced seamer in Ben Raine in the squad. That’s a massive concern to me.

Following the latest Zimbabwe and Bamber Gascoigne cup wins it is unofficially reported that there will be a open topped bus for the local public to get excited about . Hopefully the old Northern bus will leave Stanley and head on down to the Market Place and the old site of Doggarts then up the Front Street to Ropery Lane where the surviving members of the 73 & 85 classes will board the bus and alight at the Don Robson Pavilion.. Music will be provided by Witton Gilbert group Prefab Sprout and Roger Whitaker soundtrack. Entry is free but no so called celebrities will be allowed in. Stay tuned as I don't expect any local news television programmes to venture this far south.Compere duties will be shared between ex Whitburn cricketer Martin Emmerson and ex Sedgefield swing bowler Tim Wellock .

He's still only 20 yrs old and I think he had a few niggling injuries last season. Has shown he's no rabbit with the bat but agree 2025 is a big season for him

As I say, not writing him off, he’s clearly got time on his side - but I’d be worried if his batting ability is his ‘saving grace’ when we’ve got a bowling corps crisis 😂

Any improvement on Brandon Glover is a bonus 👍

I hope Potts is just being saved for the Notts game but as @brandon points out our bowling situation at the moment is bordering on the alarming and of course the usual total lack of information from the club doesnt help. So weve got Hogg, Conners and Robinson apparantly injured and nowhere to be seen, De Leede apparantly not playing red ball cricket, Coughlin apparantly injured but wandering round the boundary at the Uni game, Stokes and Carse training at the Uni game, Doggett still in Australia, Woody, who North claimed in November could possibly playing a couple of CC games, probably out for good and, with the exception of Killeen in the first innings, a pace attack that didn't really trouble the Uni batsmen.

Add to this Robinson's post July blues continuing and McKinney looking totally out of sorts against the students attack and things are not looking very rosey in the Durham garden....let's hope I'm wrong.

The latest 'The Analyst Inside Cricket' Podcast titled 'Red Ball Priorities' is a 50 minute discussion between Simons Hughes and Mann and CEO Tim Bostock.

Interesting listen but I suggest blood pressure tablets should be taken before listening especially when talk turns to the Hotel.

I wonder how much he made from the sale of the Leeds franchise. He's no longer one of the directors so I guess him and the others who had to resign got a nice little pay off.

‘Tim Bostock, Durham's influential CEO, tells Simon Hughes and Simon Mann of his ambition to boost the County Championship's image by creating more jeopardy, introducing play-offs and making the championship the envy of the cricket world. Also what to do with the Hundred windfall and how Durham cricket can establish a booming sporting ecosystem in partnership with their premier league women's footballers.

Yuk 🤢

All management-speak which roughly translates as "a load of bollox".

On the topic of previews, BBC TMS’s socials accounts have quoted Ryan Campbell this afternoon (on the inevitable Stokes questioning) which leads me to suggest we should get good coverage on their season preview. Hopefully the excellent Kevin Howells is presenting.

He (Stokes) will miss the first couple of weeks of Championship action, but I’m hopeful we’ll see some part of him prior to the international summer commencing.

Durham have six matches before the test match so I would hope the ECB allow him at least a couple of games with us. It would be crazy to let him play for England before any match practice.
