He’s the best umpire in the world by a country mile. No way he gets demoted, for me it must’ve been his decision. With all the travelling being an elite umpire brings, added to that his franchise gigs around the world, it isn’t conducive to stable family life.

Either way, that’s enough speculation, the man deserves his privacy and I wish him nothing but the best.
But the plus side is spending our winters in sunnier climates in decent hotels with all expenses paid. It appears that he has been demoted which is ridiculous given that,as you say, he remains the standout official by some distance.

Durham finish on 413 all-out and a lead of 86. Thus enabling the hosts to claim 7 bonus points against the Students 5 , Akkers finished on an unbeaten 157 whilst Young Stanley came in handy with 33 and featuring in a 9th wicket stand of 65 , Credit to the Students ice cream heir Charlie Whipple who sounds like a cross between a Mr Whippy and raspberry ripple cornet claiming 3 wkts

Hello ,good morning and welcome to nothing much . Hopefully Durham get a few early wickets and restrict the Students to a lead of 170 ish . Then Ben Mack gets a confidence building score in readiness for the game next week at Sherwood Forest. . Credit to the fans who turn up today 👍
