Pollock isn't a league below Kapil on batting alone. Away average of 36 vs 26 is a huge gap.

Bowling was stronger in Kapil's time, but I'm not sure which era was tougher for lower order bats. The main threats to a lower order bat are reverse and quality spin, which were both common in Pollock's time but not Kapil's.

They are very close as bats.

Botham > Kapil > Imran > Hadlee > Pollock
