On a pitch with consistent bounce and few cracks and with a blazing fast outfield, Marc71178 won the toss and elected to bat first. Test seamer David Jr. would make them pay quickly though, setting the score back to 31/3. Sanz then chipped in and the score later sat at a worrying 65/6. With disaster seemingly on the cards, the impressive Zaid Ghansar (dropped by Only on 17 and 73) began his sophomore season well and added a composed 119 runs with reliable veteran Imran Khan Jr. Both batsmen registered half-centuries in a total of 266 all out.
On his debut Delkap bowled well and reaped the rewards of 3 wickets, as many as David Jr.
In the Greens reply drama was immediate. Mr Ponting displayed a fiery spell of pace, bounce and accuracy and took a wicket with his first ball. He was blunted for a period by the Green middle order, but returned late to dismiss Blewy, Xavier Rose and Mr Ponting in the first ever Cricket Web FC hat-trick. Ghansar then ended the innings, taking 3 wickets in total to accompany Ponting's 4. Cloete was the only batsman, of six who got starts, to carry on to anything significant, playing for a half-century.
With a 63-run lead in the bag, the Reds set about to build once more. Gibbs N Smith had his problems for the second time in the game and perished cheaply. Bugssy and Marc showed promise but never truly got going. The score was 58/4 with big Ian Markus strode to the middle. His would be a tremendous knock and crucial to his team. A maiden FC hundred, having scored 99 twice before. At the other end Samuel Vimes gave solid support and registered a half-century to his name. There was little other contribution otherwise though and Delkap's sharp spell of accuracy and movement saw to the tailend.
Chasing 319 to win, the Greens lost early wickets and looked well and truly out of contention at 81/6. One man was determined though. The number two Test batsman in the world, Cloete oozed class and dealt with anything loose with clinical aggression. His century took 180 balls and for a while it looked like he would take the Greens to an epic win. Alas a gutsy bit of bowling from Ghansar paid off and the right-hander had to walk back to the pavilion. The tailenders hung in there and showed purpose to the cause but it was too little too late.

Eclipse - trapped LBW by inswinger
Jagaways - flicked to square leg, caught
C. Buts - edged to slip off back foot
B.K. Smith - bottom-edged pull, caught behind

2nd innings
Rich_2001 - ball didn't bounce, bowled
Eclipse - ball didn't bounce, LBW
Jagaways - top-edged hook, caught at deep square leg
C. Buts - beaten outside offstump, given out caught behind
B.K. Smith - not out
Ash Chaulk - not out
It was a typical WACA surface - hard, bouncy and quick. With such considerations Neil Pickup (the artist formerly listed as Age Master) elected to cut his seamers loose and bowl first when he won the toss. Hussey was well-caught off Broadbent early, then Maher, Love and Elliott made a strong recovery with good starts all. Love was the real danger man and reached 92 then Hunter had him caught behind driving. A fightback by the Blacks against the middle order was blunted once more, this time by the Aussie lower order.
Andy Bichel, Ashley Noffke (dropped by Jagaways on 23 and by Noffke on 36) and Brad Williams all frustrated the bowlers and Australia reached 364 all out. Hunter and Broadbent were the picks of the bowlers with 3 wickets apiece. Blaster took 2 wickets but had two catches dropped off his bowling.
Chasing a good total, the Blacks started impressively with partnerships of 49 and 65 to open up. Rich_2001 anchored the top half of the innings with a solid Athertonesque half-century. Eclipse, Jagaways and Buts all got starts, then B.K. Smith was dismissed cheaply on debut. The score now having slumped to 125/4, Rich found an able partner in Ash Chaulk. Chaulk was at his best. Indeed, he didn't quite match his FC high of 181, but the innings he played is rated by many as his finest innings - his second FC hundred (dropped by Hodge on 62).
The innings defined the eventual total of 335 for the Blacks.
With such new inspiration Pickup lead the Blacks back onto the field. The first wicket took a while to come, but Dark Hunter got both openers and the score read 81/2. Now it was Ginger time. Landing on a classic legspinners length and affording prodigious spin, Neil Pickup ripped through the Australia middle order (including two nightwatchmen), compensating for his first innings lack of penetration. Michael Clarke (dropped by Jagaways off Pickup on 17) and Andy Bichel fought on late in the innings, but the Aussies were all out for 172.
This set the Blacks a difficult chase of 202 from 41 overs on a day five pitch. The task was made all the more difficult in quick time, with Rich_2001, Eclipse and Jagaways all back in the hut at 16/3. With the heat definitely on, Buts and Chaulk batted with a controlled mix of defence and attack for a partnership of 82. It appeared as though the two batsmen would take the game to a draw, but both were dismissed with some 8 overs left in the game. Smith and Hunter calmly batted out the time.

A good batting track with good bounce for the seamers. Unfortunately the weather meant that there would be regular delays due drizzles and poor light. With all that in mind, the Englishmen had no hesitation in inserting the Blues upon winning the toss. Despite the difficulties of the conditions, the Blues batsmen batted calmly to take the score to a well-placed 184/2. At this stage, the innings lost its way. Wickets for the veteran Saggers and youngster Kabir Ali meant that the Blues were ultimately set back to 264 all out.
Broncoman topscored with a delightful half-century, complementing StUEy well and then rotating the strike nicely in partnership with Peter Young.
The conditions were now very much overcast and the bounce still steep. On a pitch expected by some to suit the batsmen, the Blues romped into the driver's seat with an awesome display of seam bowling. Muhaffy made the initial breakthrough of Troughton. When Adam replaced Nath Patrick, the good start turned to spectacular. On debut, the young left-armer got Bell with an unplayable delivery. This opened the door for Muhaffy to rip out 2 more quick wickets and Adam then claimed his second.
England 'A' had been set back to 53/5 and only Smith there of the specialist batting. A small partnership with Chris Read was broken by Nath Patrick who was working up some good rhythm. From the other end Mr Mxyzptlk hit some elusive bowling form and wrapped up the tail in tandem with Patrick - 93 all out!
With a first-innings lead of 171, the Blues took to the middle once more. Craig was dropped early by Pieterson but didn't last much longer as Saggers' first second innings wicket. StUEy, Broncoman and Mr Mxyzptlk got starts but it was Jason Toogood's 6th FC hundred and Dylan Jellett's 7th half-century that inspired the eventual total of 305 all out.
This set up a massive task of a 477-run chase. Jellett dropped Troughton before he had scored (2nd ball) and England ended the day at 17/0. Just 11 runs were added on the fourth day and the Patrick got Ian Ward for 11. Soon after, the successful bowler was the culprit as he dropped Troughton on 22. Jellett dropped Bell on 20, then Mr Mxyzptlk dropped him on 25. The Englishmen went to lunch at 88/1 and Troughton reached his half-century the over after. As reward for a long spell, Halsey would break through, dismissing Troughton for 75 - 139/2. Bell reached his half-century, then was missed by Craig on 57 - the third chance put down off Patrick.
Nath Patrick made way for Daniel Muhaffy and that change produced 3 quick wickets. Suddenly the score slipped from 159/2 to 169/5 and the Blues were completely in charge again. Immediately after tea Muhaffy got Read, caught by Craig, then Adam had Cork caught by the same man. The tail end fought back somewhat, but Muhaffy completed his 5-wicket haul and then Mr. Mxyzptlk snared the final wicket with a loose ball outside offstump - a massive win for the impressive Blues.
