I must confess, I was mainly looking at Post WWII players that I had seen. Hence Gregory, along with Rhodes and others, was overlooked.Am I missing something, or how does Jack Gregory not get a mention in this sort of list?
In that case I'll vote for one of them. Andrew FlintoffAs a point of (debatable) interest, only ten men in Test history have achieved a peak ICC rating of at least 500 points, and as far as I can see two of them haven't even received a mention yet this in this thread, let alone a vote.
Mushtaq has a much better average and took a 5fer in the same match he scored a double century. And has there been a finer all round performances than this against peak West Indies? If Mushtaq gets votes, so should Dexter. Both take < 1.4WPM which is hardly worthy of an 'all-rounder' title.
Both were mighty fine bats but .....
I prefer to judge on careers, not isolated Tests.Mushtaq has a much better average and took a 5fer in the same match he scored a double century. And has there been a finer all round performances than this against peak West Indies?

All round performances are vital when judging ARs. Dexter never came close to changing a game with both bat and ball.I prefer to judge on careers, not isolated Tests.
Its borderline imposible to hit 500 as a lower order bat, because you simply cant accrue enough points as a bat, regardless of how well you are batting if you dont score enough runs per game.As a point of (debatable) interest, only ten men in Test history have achieved a peak ICC rating of at least 500 points, and as far as I can see two of them haven't even received a mention yet this in this thread, let alone a vote.
