Comment
Australia set a new record high total for the fourth update out of four with their 3-1 win in the Caribbean, which also serves to knock the West Indians out of third place in the Home Tests table below India, and also sees them drop 37 points overall to be well adrift of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka sneak ahead of England in Home Tests, as the Aussies' victory in the Caribbean means that the Sri Lankans' Home victory against the Aussies looks even more impressive. The other minor points changes overall are due to wins at home to Australia gaining value (e.g. India), or victories in the Caribbean losing value (e.g. New Zealand).

England are likely to regain fourth place, and fractionally close the gap on New Zealand overall, if they win the Second Test against Zimbabwe in two weeks' time.

Forthcoming Updates
9 June England v Zimbabwe (Previous Result: 0.75:0.25)
1 July West Indies v Sri Lanka (Previous Result: 0.75:0.25)
29 July Australia v Bangladesh (First Meeting)
8 Sept England v South Africa (Previous Result: 0.60:0.40)

Is that because the first one had India further up? ;)

One reason for that and one reason alone - it gave India 100% of the points allocated from the India-Aus "Harbhajan and Laxman's Series" rather than 67-33 as the new split does.

So I'm sticking to Mark 2 :)

Because I'm a lazy student, I forgot about an update for Eng-Zim.

Nevertheless, here's the seventh update of the tables, after the WI vs SL series (which incidentally didn't change a sausage).

HOME TABLE
1 Australia 1535
2 South Africa 1086
3 India 971
4 West Indies 902
5 England 873 +1
6 Sri Lanka 848 -1
7 New Zealand 769
8 Pakistan 589
9 Zimbabwe 345
10 Bangladesh 47

AWAY TABLE
1 Australia 1698
2 New Zealand 1227
3 South Africa 1141
4 England 1063
5 Pakistan 932
6 India 643
7 Sri Lanka 595
8 West Indies 269
9 Zimbabwe 171
10 Bangladesh 0

OVERALL TABLE (changes inc. Eng vs Zim)
1 Australia 1623 (+8)
2 South Africa 1114 (-4)
3 New Zealand 984 (-3)
4 England 968 (+6)
5 India 818 (-4)
6 Pakistan 782 (+2)
7 Sri Lanka 737 (-7)
8 West Indies 567 (-5)
9 Zimbabwe 258 (-35)
10 Bangladesh 23 (-4)

If you're wondering why there are so many seemingly unjustified decreases, it's because Home wins against Zimbabwe are now worth less after their draw in 2000 has been wiped off the records. Australia's big rise (and new record) is due to their win in England being worth more, and they haven't played Zimbabwe yet. Wait for them to finish the Zimbabwe & Bangladesh series, then they'll be much lower :)

Comments? :)

They'll win soon. Probably against Zimbabwe.

Right, update for the end of Bangladesh's 3 Test Series Down Under (I know there were two tests, but it was sponsored by a company called "3")...

1 Australia 1507 (-116)
2 South Africa 1114
3 New Zealand 986 (+2)
4 England 969 (+1)
5 India 818
6 Pakistan 782
7 Sri Lanka 737
8 West Indies 567
9 Zimbabwe 258
10 Bangladesh 21 (-2)

Update #9

England slip a little as the memory of 1998, Mike Atherton, Allan Donald, Gus Fraser and all that fades even further, but Steve Harmison and Andy Flintoff's spectacular displays at the Oval see them hang on to fourth spot, but New Zealand's lead over them increases ten points to 27.

Australia (1529, +22) and South Africa (1137, +23) are the major beneficiaries of the Proteas' 2-2 draw in England whilst Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and New Zealand all benefit from Pakistan's defeat of Bangladesh whilst the hosts themselves (735, -47) are hit doubly by their series (see the Australia-Bdesh update) and the devalue of their 2001 draw in England, and see themselves fall to seventh below Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh (19, -2) record the lowest total so far, having set 31 on their entry.

Forthcoming Series (Last Time):
India v New Zealand (0.67:0.33)
Australia v Zimbabwe (First Time)
Bangladesh v England (First Time)

That's a great system there! A lot better than the "official" one...

Hate to gloat, but Australia is by far the best team going around at the moment, and the rankings should reflect it.

In relation to informing someone big in cricket circles about it, what about Richie Benaud?

Great effort! Just wondered why England on 845 is ahead of Sri Lanka on 850? Otherwise, I think your ratings reflect the truth fairly well.
