CW BT Cup 6

Having a quick flick through, and I think I'm right in saying that there are three CW Cup matches taking place so far this weekend.

In Group c Jamees 999ers host oz fans xi, and both matches in Group F, Kipper XI V Viveash, and Cymru Gurgitaters V Jaffna Jets.

Don't forget to post up here if your match is arranged between now and Sunday, and I'll check again on Monday.

Later, Trev

hmm, when whenupai makes their entrance to the tournament after the group stages i will be away from nz. now i expect i'll be able to get a pc 1-3 times a week. but i'd appreciate if my opponents could challenge me as i wouldn't know when i'd be able to get around to accepting. i can't invision too many problems with regards to this, but to be on the safe side you my opponent can challenge me that would be appreciated

Struggling in my match against Jamee. Lost my best batsman for just 2 runs. After 5 overs my side is 11-1.

Edit: Lost 2 wickets in a row. 15-3. Will be lucky to get anywhere near 100.

Possibly a stupid question here, but are the groups set up yet? I had a quick look through the thread and nothing seemed finalised.

Bugger me, this all got organised fast. You go to the arse end of nowhere Scotland for two weeks and you miss the chance to enter :). Or is it not too late? (Beard XI, username Dead_Badger)

Incidentally, I noticed you challenged me at some point while I was away, Trev. Sorry for not accepting; internet access a bit sparse when caravanning in the Orkneys. Puffin access, yes; internet, no.

Im sure Trev got his idea of about any possible changes now Mahinda got knocked out of the cup and we have had a couple extra sign ups. Here just an option if he wants to start a fresh so everyone can play. This not just cus i lost btw, i got pressimistic morale so buckley chance of winning a game in the cup anyway. There was only three games completed from memory anyway, so i guess its not a big deal starting fresh.

- Top 8 sides get seeded into next round (as CW sides get better more sides will be in the later round of the BT Cup, so it will allow us started earlier in the future).
- 8 groups of 3 to 4, i think we need 2-3 more sign ups to make 40 teams all up.
- Top team in each group make it into the next round (a bit more cut throat, but will sort the men out from the boys)

I got no problems if Trev wants to keep using current format.

I can draw up groups in a couple hours if people want to use this format. Thoughts?

Tharmi, if we do it your way, then I'll participate. No disrespect Trev, you're doing a fine job - but I'm still wondering why you've scrapped the seeding system. It's more logical and makes for a more enjoyable competition.

I blame myself for that a bit, the seeding works for top 8 sides. But for 9-24 or so, its near impossible to accurate seeds sides, everyone is so close. Thats the problem with the seeding system for us ATM.

Tharmi, I think we're almost singing off the same hymn-sheet here, except I've gone with six through to the knock-out stage, as it just worked out better with the numbers. But I agree that perhaps in future years we ought to have the quarter finalists through automatically. I hope everyone's in agreement, but I've left Mahindinho in the A seeds, despite going out of the Cup, and I've also promoted Dalmeny Cricket Club, as I figured they were the best of the teams in the group stage. That leaves eight groups of four, fighting for ten places, the group winners plus two best performing second place teams.

Through to the 2nd Round: Asterix XI, Scaly Piscine CC, Whenuapai CC, Withington Wonderers, Boggles, Dalmeny Cricket Club.

Group A:
Tawonga Tigers, Four Pillars and Poor Fillers, Citizens Erased, Got Spin

Group B:
Tamil Eelam CC, College Dropouts, Clapo XI, Pup,

Group C:
Jamees 999ers, oz fans xi, Best Indies, Caves_beached,

Group D:
Beard XI , Lancashire, Suryadevara, Victoria Panthers,

Group E:
Dynamo Morpork, Magical Ponies, Central Districts, Zebras,

Group F:
Kipper XI, Viveash, Cymru Gurgitaters, Jaffna Jets,

Group G:
Male Models, Alternative XI, The Heath CC, Sad Decadent XI,

Group H.
Vindscreen Vipers, Leverock CC, Brackenhurst, VCC

Well, we can get a few people together and work out the seeds. I think the best way to do it is through looking at ratings, previous cup performances and using a bit of commonsense.
