CW BT Cup 6

Yes it's split 50/50, but playing at the venue of the team with more members etc. will get a bigger attendance.
Exactly, which is why I was wanting to play at Sad Decadent XI's ground - I only have 626 members and the bog-standard-sized ground - therefore we'll both make a bit more money if we play at his place (capacity 26650).

I'd rather get more money than choose which pitch to play on - home advantage isn't going to make much difference to me!

My only query was whether playing home or away would mess up Trevor's fixture schedules?

I have no problem with people switching home advantage, A, as long as both sides agree, and B, as long as you appreciate that you're surrendering home advantage and may not get another home match in return later in the tournament.

Matteh, no, you're just in time, I'll add you to Group B, unless there are another two entries by Monday, in which case I'll start a group H. Anyone know what's happened to Paddy and Quek?

Raghav, team name duly amended, sorry I cut and paste too much!

This is turning into a mess TBH, no offense Trev. Split rounds, teams having already arranged friendies, byes and a weird quaification system, automatic quaiffication to next round.

Again no offence Trev you'll tired your best, but i know i can arrange it a lot more simply and keep everyone relatively happy. One the things that make this cup work is that its simple.

I don't know what other people thoughts are but, how about we start fresh from next week and i'll take it over again. Hmm i'm probably kind of sounding rude to Trev, but i think you rushed trying to start it too much and didn't just let it flow.

Im happy to keep going with this format, if everyone wants. Or do you guys want to start a fresh next week.

Anyway accepted your challenge Trev.

Perhaps if there were a few more constructive suggestions, and a bit less whining like spoilt brats, then it could have gone smoother. But if you reckon you can do a better job of A, including the people still involved in the BT Cup, B, allowing space for everyone who wants to enter, C, keeping it within a time frame which impacts on BT20 as little as possible, and still come up with a fairer and simpler qualification system - Then go for your life!

Personally I don't think there is any mess to re-arrange. The first round is a split round, because entries are still open, and some groups will change. But the fixtures I've said can go ahead will be unaffected by the changes to groups etc.

Perhaps all the games could have been held over until next week, but I wanted to maximise all the time available, in order to make sure that we stood a better chance of finishing within the time-frame set out by Scaly.

If you have multiple groups of four, you'll never be able to have all the second place teams qualify, so how do you make that simpler.

There's a big difference between something being a mess, and you simply not liking it because it doesn't serve your own very narrow purposes.

at the time I started coming up with proposals for discussion, the thread wasn't exactly awash with people putting their hands up! If you don't like it, then I'd have thought that the polite and decent thing to do would be to take it on next season and do it better than I have - But hey, it's a free world!

Not sure what all the fuss is about, format seems fine to me. The split round I assume is simply to get as many games out of the way as early as possible to prevent to some extent the usual stuff-ups that inevitably happen in the first round matches. I appreciate that a dodgy draw doesn't affect me, but those groups are fine. It's not as though three genuine contenders have been drawn in the same group.

First of all the main reason i started this early was so that who ever ran it could have a week or so to think about what format they wanted to meet different. A chance to research the sides and do accurate seeding (if you were going to to use then). The last think i expected was someone to take it on and organise it in 2-3 days. I think you did a brillant effort to try, but it near impossible and we have seen the reasons why. It took me two weeks to organise the last cup. By the 2nd week people were still signing up and into the 3rd week as well. Maybe i should have started this thread a week ago, but no really mentioned starting it early in the other thread.

Yeah i can understand why Scaly wants to finish it early, but IMO your better off sorting everything out and making sure you have covered all bases before begining the cup. With a cup that invloves 32 plus teams, it not going to take a couple days to organise. There are ways to make it shorter and run on time, without rushing the start of the cup.

People whine but that has more to do with how important this cup is to alot of members. I know a lot of members take this cup more seriously then the BT Cup. There whining to be mean to you, it cus this cup matters to them and they want it to be run properly. I had the same thing last season.

It does seem that your a tad pissed off now. But i didn't mean to be rude is saying i'm willing to take it over again. If you want to run and keep going you can.

Have to admit that i doubt groups of 5 will work. the groups of 5 will have to have someone with a Bye, and then all the other groups will have a week off in the middle. I think stick with groups of 4 and the worst teams playoff to fill in the spots, it wont be fun for those that miss out, but there will probably be a side comp running at the same time as the knockouts, so they can join in that.

Ok, we need one more team to introduce a Group H, and keep all the groups with four teams. Paddy hasn't logged on for nearly four weeks, so I wouldn't think he's a goer.
