Tbh if India loses this series and Kohli keeps playing like this I'm gonna rate Greenidge higher too.
Don't think series result should have that much impact unless obviously Kohli makes telling contributes. Very lucky escape for them in Brisbane unless Australia do something miraculous. He has a chance in Sydney.

Waqar had a great start to his career.
32 Tests.
187 wickets.
Avg of 18.85 and SR of 35
19 5-Fer and 4 10WPM

One can give various reasons why he over performed like that but it is the closest a modern day bowler came to achieving Sydney Barnes like figures

Like Bumrah has figures close to this, against better teams on average...... Waqar also relatively feasted on weak line-ups like NZ

Bumrah is a greater bowler but he doesn’t even come close to those figures - 19 5-Fer in 32 Tests is crazy.
I was talking from more of an overall wickets point and more importantly, the opposition.

He averaged 34 vs Australia, 25 vs England and 39 vs India (debut series though). The only Great batting unit he dominated was WI (35@19) and SL was alright as a batting unit back then pre Sangakkara and Jayawardene (31 @19), but NZ was pretty bad except Crowe (56 @14).

Bumrah has been rotated a lot. Perhaps missing out on Asian conditions tests isn't good for his record in isolation, but Waqar got burnt out by Pakistan. He might have benefitted from the way Bumrah has been managed. Don't think he had as many tools though.
