So basically let's not rate him on where he played and dominated, but where he didn't because of injury?
Rate him less because of questionmarks over gap in his bowling record.

Simple fact is outside of Aus and Eng, he either didn't play or didn't achieve much of note.

Coronis

International Coach
Nah. Hutton faced only two ATG bowlers, Lindwall and O'Reilly, with some amount of Grum probably early on. Conditions is in his favour, and the 50s Aussie attack was Great, but he didn't play against closely as many ATG bowlers Lara did.
He’s lucky he didn’t.

Patience and Accuracy+Gut

State Vice-Captain
I was talking from more of an overall wickets point and more importantly, the opposition.

He averaged 34 vs Australia, 25 vs England and 39 vs India (debut series though). The only Great batting unit he dominated was WI (35@19) and SL was alright as a batting unit back then pre Sangakkara and Jayawardene (31 @19), but NZ was pretty bad except Crowe (56 @14).
Australia makes sense that’s it. India is just 2 match in his debut series. Ftr Bumrah himself averages 45 against New Zealand. Other than that Waqar dominated everyone. His peak statistics is better than Bumrah easily. And match everyone and tbh it’s more than just that even if his stats is better than almost everyone.
