SRT's record vs him is actually really good in contextYes but sachin and dravid clearly struggled vs mcgarth. Vvs was only indian batter who looked comfortable vs him

neutral at bestSRT's record vs him is actually really good in context
1 MoS away, 2 50s and a ton in a 3 match series and the last series was called in mid series while in rehab, but still scored a crucial 50 in the only win in a very difficult pitchneutral at best
Shut up man it was not pandaring. Srt got 2-3 absolute howlers which even McGrath would admit. If not for them would have averaged 10 points moreThat much-referenced MotS Tendulkar won in 1999/2000 for averaging 40-odd in a team that got swept 3-0 was a joke and a complete pandering to the Indian market.
There, I said it.
Which bogles my mind that srt was biggest victim of biased umpiring but still was shamlessly against drs. Man is hypocriteShut up man it was not pandaring. Srt got 2-3 absolute howlers which even McGrath would admit. If not for them would have averaged 10 points more
Philander did so much damage in the first innings the game was already a foregone conclusion, so he let other lesser players have a bowl.Still almost the same WPM as Philander’s career @shortpitched713

What an absolutely humble, and generous soul.
Would be so Great had they pandered us with better umpiring......That much-referenced MotS Tendulkar won in 1999/2000 for averaging 40-odd in a team that got swept 3-0 was a joke and a complete pandering to the Indian market.

He mostly suffered at home vs SA.McGrath vs SA
17 Tests. 57 wickets.
Avg of 27.3 and SR of 71
2 5-Fers
Not really that great against 2nd best team of his era
I mean, all said and done it was a good series, one ton and two near fifty scores are quality returns against the best team in their backyard. That much-referenced MotS Tendulkar won in 1999/2000 for averaging 40-odd in a team that got swept 3-0 was a joke and a complete pandering to the Indian market.

Depends. The series McGrath played vs India pre 2001 had very poor batting lineups for a multitude of reasons (the openers were atrocious almost every game because it was either poor batsmen like Rathore or MSK prasad or batsmen who were batting out of position like Laxman or even Nayan Mongia. There were guys like Devang Gandhi , Vijay Bhardwaj and Hrishikesh Kanitkar who played games. India's lineup during this time was prone to regular, embarrassing collapses. Will say though, SA were the 2nd best team, but India were the best batting unit
tendulkar did well in the two full series he played against McGrath in 99 and 2001. Outside that he played injured in 2004/5 for a couple of tests and 1 single test in 96. Overall would say he did good against McGrath.1 MoS away, 2 50s and a ton in a 3 match series and the last series was called in mid series while in rehab, but still scored a crucial 50 in the only win in a very difficult pitch
I would say the 96 MO was really strong atleast with Dravid, SRT, Azhar and Ganguly (and still Nyan Mongia won the game opening.....). 99 is fair, probably looks better for the big names than was in practicality.Depends. In 01 and 04 he did well against an actually strong lineup.
True but he did choke the life out of the batting.McGrath in India
1/56 & 1/30
3/19 & 2/25
4/18 & 3/103
3/75 & 2/21
4/55 & 2/39
0/74 & 0/18
3/27 & 2/79
1/35 & 2/29.
Very consistent but I never saw him as someone who would wreck the batting lineup and destroy us
Interested in the argument for Trueman ahead of Lillee, Donald and Holding.Marshall>McGrath>Hadlee>Barnes>Ambrose>Steyn>Warne>Murali>Imran>Trueman for me.
That's not his argumentInterested in the argument for Trueman ahead of Lillee, Donald and Holding.
And very much this.No O’Reilly??
