I believe he’s referring to McGrath vs SAWhat part of Mcgraths record is similar to that?
McGrath is at far less rate of penetration. Steyn until he was injured in his last Aus test was taking 5 WPM. If your WPM and SR are good, it doesn't matter if your average is >25.the same record is considered a liability when it comes to McGrath to be fair.
Other than the average, they are about as different as you can get.his record against South Africa
the average is what most people do take issue withOther than the average, they are about as different as you can get.
Once again, a slightly higher average is fine as long as wickettaking rate is maintained. Rather than like Ambrose taking 13 wickets in 4 tests against SA with a loss average but little match impact.the average is what most people do take issue with
Do they? Those averages are still excellent by the standards of regular bowlers against strong opposition. Mcgraths WPM is pretty poor by the same standards, and is more of an issue.the average is what most people do take issue with
They're probably wrong to do so. Picking up only around 3 wpm against arguably the strongest opposition of your era isn't particularly good.the average is what most people do take issue with
I'd argue the Indian batting wasn't necessarily weaker for the most part. They're probably wrong to do so. Picking up only around 3 wpm against arguably the strongest opposition of your era isn't particularly good.
Will say though, SA were the 2nd best team, but India were the best batting unitMcGrath vs SA
17 Tests. 57 wickets.
Avg of 27.3 and SR of 71
2 5-Fers
Not really that great against 2nd best team of his era
On paper? MaybeWill say though, SA were the 2nd best team, but India were the best batting unit
He was good against us and picked up the early wickets but I don’t remember him ripping us apart like he did to WestIndies and England.McGrath usually ripped India asunder in the first inning, not the second.
Won't say McGrath ripped India apart, but he definitely was ATG vs IndiaMcGrath usually ripped India asunder in the first inning, not the second.

Yes but sachin and dravid clearly struggled vs mcgarth. Vvs was only indian batter who looked comfortable vs himWill say though, SA were the 2nd best team, but India were the best batting unit
