Current Underrated XI

Hold it you have Imran Farhat to open and yet you have Marvan Attapatu batting at 5, when he is an opener and Lehmann at 4.

Where is any logic in that?
Who cares mate it is an Underrated XI and it's the players in the side that count, not the order.

Why though?

You can put who ever you like in there, but you should get the order right.

Whatever. Continue your argument. I couldn't care less.

Except that he isn't under-rated.
except that with a batting average of nearly 53, a bowling average of under 21 and being their best player of spin he wasnt even considered as 'missed' when he didnt play in the series against india.....

despite the fact that both of them have poor footwork and are flat track/poor bowling bullies, there are differences between the 2. trescothick does have a much better temperament,a better technique and doesnt often throw his innings away with poor strokes.
Serious question here about FTB's.... (no, really)

Why don't the players with better technique do even better when pitched up against rubbish bowling or batting on a flat track?

Would anyone else think Thorpe is underrated regarding the lack of admiration/attention he seems to get on these boards. IMO best batsmen in England and one of best middle order in the world. If it weren't for all his personal troubles i'd say he'd be averaging in 50's. He certainly should be on current form.

better than FTB's or better than on non-flat tracks?

Well, Farhat is an opening batsman after all....

That being said, I'd have Atapattu at 3 - if my memory serves me correctly he has batted in the middle order at various stages of his career.

Gayle at 6.

Anyway, my underrated XI would be:

Devon Smith
Imran Farhat
Mark Butcher
Tillekaratne Dilshan
Asim Kamal
Ridley Jacobs (c)
Azhar Mahmood
Upul Chandana
Ashley Giles
Shabbir Ahmed
Dewlad Pretorius

12th man: Tapash Bayisa.

I think I've got enough batting at 7, 8 and 9 to justify the exclusion of a seventh batsman, and while Jacobs isn't exactly fun to watch he certainly wouldn't let anyone down.

IMo, Atapattu is overrated and Irfan Pathan is the most over-hyped cricketer I've come across in a long while. Hes still got everything to prove.

Well If you look, I've got four openers in my side. So they cant all go out and open the batting...

Im sure Atapattu wouldnt turn into a bunny just because he drops down the order.. Vaughans just done it in the real world...

Those two aren't underrated. Asim Kamal has impressed many while Shabbir has underperformed off-late.
Unless you are a serious fan, Asim Kamal is almost completely unheard in these parts.. Probably the same in Aus, NZ, SA

Surprising to not get a comment on that from chicane. :p

I've heard of him a couple of times over here, I seem to remember he said something along the lines of "Test cricket is easier than First-Class"
Impressive stats so far, 3 50's at 58 (with a 99)
