No Dizzy? Oh well...What about Tikolo and Davison? They're more then worthy!
Haha, last time Gillespie played a ODI? Like more than two years ago? Forogt about Tikolo, and asked for him to be added, but no big loss really, doubt he'll make the final eleven. Davison? Would get two votes. Max.

EDIT: Haha, no luck for Dave and Agit so far. CW is changing.

Tikolo would be nowhere near it. Somewhat overrated round these parts itbt. Fine player and would have been a regular for many stronger nations ODI team, but one of the best in the world - no way.

He might be someone's favourite player though. Not to mention being a leader and a sole inspiration for a nation. :) I certainly respect the guy bucketloads.

Remove Gilchrist replace Clarke with Tendulkar and put in another WK?

Tendulkar > Gilchrist?

Yet I do suppose the wicketkeeping bonus is a factor. I love that your team has Symonds /Clarke/KP bowling 10.
But Clarke is a better ODI batsman than Tendulkar these days IMHO. Obviously not yet in Tendulkar's class over the entirety of their respective careers, but I'm picking this team based on recent form.

Gilly/Tendulkar is almost a line ball one for me as well, again speaking in the recent context. Gilly being able to keep AND open lets me have all the gun middle order players I want in the team - great as Sangakkara and Dhoni are, they're not worth omitting one of Pietersen, Clarke or Hussey.

Ideally there'd be a better 5 bowling option than Symonds, with Symonds being the 6th option. Flintoff would be the obvious candidate, but, again, recently, he's not been much chop, and is not good enough to drop one of KP, Clarke or Hussey. Symonds and Clarke would do the job most days I reckon, and given the wickets Lee, Bond and Murali would have taken in 90% of matches, plus that batting line up, I think its a fair enough effort. I reckon cunning captaincy would actually see Symonds or Clarke get a wicket a surprising amount of the time as opponents overdo trying to attack the one weak point in the team.

I reckon a team could chase a target if your bowling attack if part timers plus Lee Bracken Bond and Murali, while all fantastic bowlers none of them are 'containers' if someone takes to them on a flat wicket you could see a 300+ total get chased down, unlikely though yet still feasible. And Tendulkar still > Clarke for me, Tendulkar has been scoring 50+ scores almost at will this year.

Clarke's 2007:
Matches, Runs, HS, Average, NO, 100s, 50s, W, BB, Bowling Average, Catches
28, 926, 130, 48.73, 4, 1, 7, 9, 2/33, 36.77, 10

4 Not-Outs boost his average somewhat, 3 were scores of 50+. I can't coax a strike rate for 2007 outta statsguru, but his career strike rate is 83.04 and I'd think he's at least maintained that over this period.

Tendulkar:
Matches, Runs, HS, Average, NO, 100s, 50s, W, BB, Bowling Average, Catches
33, 1425, 100*, 47.50, 2, 1, 13, 11, 2/10, 44.36, 7

Both of Tendulkar's NOs are also 50+ scores. His career strike rate is 85.5.

Pretty similar records really. Sachin has scored more fifties in a few more games - he played 5 more matches this year to date, but Clarke was not called upon to bat in 4 of the matches he played in, whereas Tendulkar batted everytime India did.

I'd say Clarke's fielding is an advantage worth at least 5, maybe 10 runs per innings in the field compared to Sachin.

Its quite debateable IMO. Sachin may be better, but I don't think its outlandish to say that Clarke is as good at the moment.

Strike rate in 2007 of 82.34. Tendulkar has been scoring at 85.59 this year.

I dare say that even with the same averages, Tendulkar's year would just look a lot better had he turned those six scores of 90-99 (including 99 three times) into 100s even though the end result of those knocks probably wouldn't have changed much, if at all.

Yeah, that's probably true. If it comes to it, I could see dropping Hussey, putting Sachin in to open with Hayden and putting either Gilchrist or Dhoni in at 7. I think Gilchrist would be more suited to coming in and tee-ing off at the death than either Sangakkara or Dhoni tbh..

Maybe:
Tendulkar
Hayden
Ponting
Pietersen
Clarke
Symonds
Gilchrist+
Lee
Bracken
Bond
Murali
