That's a very good win against the Chinese pair for Jojo and I. Not many seeds left, we've really got a chance here if we can hold our nerve.

Massive result there, think I've taken one set (if that) off Blanco in four or so matches, so its gonna be hard work in the semi.

Semi Finals - Seoul, South Korea (Hard)

Men's singles (Seeds - Finals - Top Half - Bottom Half)
Men's doubles (Draw)
  • Despite losing his first set of the week, third seed Spas Delev is through to the final of the Tretorn Serie+ Challenger in Seoul following a come-from-behind win over Swede Henrikk Henrikkson. Henrikkson has been on a rampage this week, and after losing his previous two first sets found himself in a rare position as he clinched the first 6-3. But Delev, who has looked to finish his season on a big high, wasn't done with and came back to level the match at a set each and surge to a 3-0 lead in the decider. Henrikkson broke back, but Delev continued to press the Swede's serve and finally earned a deserved finals spot with a 3-6, 7-6(1), 6-4 win.
  • South Korea will not, however, bear witness to an all-CWLand final as Matt Bre also gave up a one-set lead to be beaten by impressive teenager Boris Denisov. Bre hadn't lost a set all week, and that did not look like changing as he put a breadstick on the Russian in the first set. But Denisov fought back, and after taking the second set in a tiebreaker overwhelmed Bre to secure a remarkable 1-6, 7-6(3), 6-2 win and a spot in the final.

  • Seeded players out: None.
  • In the only upset of the doubles, fourth seeds Nico Hoffman & Benjamin Rabin recovered from their near miss in the quarter finals to smash Denis Inomov & Rustam Toshpulatov 6-1, 6-3 to win through to the final. They'll face top seeds Dusko Milošević & Savo Petkoviä.

  • Seeded players out: Denis Inomov & Rustam Toshpulatov; Grigory Khugaev & Alexey Korskakov.
Lima Challenger I (C)
Semi Finals - Lima, Peru (Clay)

Men's singles (Seeds - Finals - Top Half - Bottom Half)
Men's doubles (Draw)
  • In Lima, Austria's Martin Reiter survived a tight three-set affair against Néstor Moreno to advance to the final 6-3, 0-6, 6-3. He will face Spain's Fernando Aguero following his straight sets thumping of Felipe Menon. In the doubles, third seeds Julio Rodriguez & Diego Rodriquez will face Aussie pair Rod Bosnar & Steve Cole who make their second final in a row.

  • Seeded players out: Felipe Menon; Néstor Moreno.
  • Seeded players out: None.

Semi Finals (Friday) - Paris, France (Indoor Hard)

Men's singles (Seeds - Finals - Section 1 - Section 2 - Section 3 - Section 4)
Men's doubles (Finals - Top Half - Bottom Half)
  • Randy Smeltz has managed to take a set off Daniel Páez Blanco for the first time, but couldn't stop himself falling to a 0-4 record against the former World No. 1 in a tight three-set affair in the semi finals of the Paris Masters. It looked like same old, same old for Smeltz who held a game record of 12-37 against the second seed as the Spaniard breezed through the first set 6-2. But Smeltz wasn't going to go down without a fight, and he fought back in a tense second set to finally convert one of three set points to send Blanco to a decider for the first time. It wasn't to be, though, as the CWLander was broken in the fourth game of the set and couldn't claw his way back as Blanco advanced to a second hard court final in as many weeks 6-2, 6-7(8), 6-3.
  • Whilst Blanco holds an awesome record of 8-0 in ATP finals, Dwayne Murdoch has a record of just 0-1 and will look to improve that tomorrow following his stunning win over world No. 7 József Boros. Murdoch's high ranking is mainly down to three quarter final appearances in Grand Slams this year, but he looked determined to finish Season I on a high and to snare an alternate spot at Flushing Meadows with a 6-1, 7-5 victory. Boros, who will also be in New York next week, looked thoroughly ordinary against the fourteenth seed whose win gives him the unique chance to defeat both the world No. 1 and 2 in the same week.

  • Seeded players out:
    József Boros.
  • The match tiebreaker curse struck again for Heath Davis & Jojo Mustard as they fell to unseeded Italian pair Carlo Amato & Antonio Bachunelli. It has been a good consolation for the Italians who suffered disappointing losses in the singles draw, and their 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 victory puts them through to their maiden doubles final as a duo. Davis and Mustard, meanwhile, fall in the semi finals at Masters level again, but the loss does nothing to jeopardise their World Tour Finals hopes starting Monday week.
  • In the top half, the fairytale run of Mikel Fosdike & Christian Mary came to an abrupt end as Tal Cohen & Raz Teper secured a convincing 6-4, 6-2 to move to the final. After making the final of Roland Garros, the sixth seeds have finally won through to another final following five (3 ATP, 2 ITF) failures in semi finals.

  • Seeded players out:
    Jefferson Drake &
    Martti Korpinen.

Oh for crying out loud! We should have been hammering those Italian chumps. These 3rd set weird pointy-tiebreak things are getting right on my wick. Play a proper 3rd game!

Final - Seoul, South Korea (Hard)

Men's singles (Seeds - Finals - Top Half - Bottom Half)
Men's doubles (Draw)
  • Spas Delev has given up a big lead in the first set to fall in straight sets as Russian teenager Boris Denisov has claimed his maiden title in Seoul. Earning a helpful 75 points, Denisov came from a break down at 3-5 to clinch the first set in a tiebreaker with just his second set point. Delev needed a good start in the second, but did not get it as Denisov quickly surged to a 4-2 lead and clung on to secure a 7-6(4), 6-4 upset.

  • Seeded players put: Spas Delev.
  • In the doubles final, top seeds Dusko Milošević & Savo Petkoviä have capped off a successful week by capturing the title without losing a set with a 6-3, 6-4 thrashing of Nico Hoffman & Benjamin Rabin.

  • Seeded players out: Nico Hoffman & Benjamin Rabin.
Lima Challenger I (C)
Final - Lima, Peru (Clay)

Men's singles (Seeds - Finals - Top Half - Bottom Half)
Men's doubles (Draw)
  • A second set lapse for the second time in as many matches was not enough to stop him from claiming the title in Peru with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 win over Spain's Fernando Aguero. In the doubles, Rod Bosnar & Steve Cole lost their second final in as many weeks with a 3-6, 6-0, 12-10 loss to third seeds Julio Rodriguez & Diego Rodriquez.

Finals (Sunday) - Paris, France (Indoor Hard)

Men's singles (Seeds - Finals - Section 1 - Section 2 - Section 3 - Section 4)
Men's doubles (Finals - Top Half - Bottom Half)
  • The slow surfaces in Paris this week have been perfect for Daniel Páez Blanco's style, and it was little surprise that fourteenth seed Dwayne Murdoch fell just short of stopping the Spaniard from claiming his ninth title of the season. The World No. 2 came storming out of the blocks in search of a fourth Masters title, and despite having beaten the World No. 1 already this week Murdoch did not look prepared as Blanco closed out the first set 6-2. But in the second the American rallied, and with a big break of service surged to 5-3 and served out the set to send the match to a decider. Murdoch looked like he had all the momentum, but it did not last as Blanco earned a double break early and despite being broken late managed to clinch the title 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 to send himself into Flushing Meadows as the form player after a massive season.

  • Seeded players out:
    Dwayne Murdoch.
  • After a horror stretch, Israeli sixth seeds Tal Cohen & Raz Teper have claimed their first tour title with a comfortable 6-2, 6-4 win over Carlo Amato & Antonio Bachunelli. It was a somewhat meek ending to the week for the Italians who had mowed through high ranked doubles pairs with some exciting play, but the Israeli duo looked confident in their win. The reversal of form comes with Cohen's good late season singles form, and sends them into Flushing Meadows with renewed confidence.

  • Seeded players out: None.

Sharp Špidlá suffers domestic scare

An at home accident very nearly put Radek Špidlá out of the Masters finals in New York next week after the World No. 3 inadvertently cut open his hand with a kitchen knife. The two-time Grand Slam finalist is one of the favourites for next week's Year End Finals despite a second round mishap in Paris last week, but was lucky he did not do any real damage to his right hand. "Radek cut his hand open last night and was taken to hospital to receive some stitches," his manager told Monte Carlo media. "He's still on course to fly out to New York on Wednesday and will be fit to contend for the title. He's a very lucky man at the moment."

Elsewhere, Radivoj Daneu may have slipped to No. 5 in the world, but has declared himself fit to compete in New York after recovering from a torn hamstring. He's been in training for the last two weeks.

Good effort to get a set off Blanco, at least I improved this time. Can't be too unhappy with making the semis off my prefered surface, I've gone from being the Nicholas Almagro of CW tennis to the Guillermo Canas of CW tennis (just without the drugs).
