Second Half
The Second half got underway with a settling in period. Both teams searching each other without going to hard..
However when things did start to heat up it was the same story as the first half.. A Kearsley run down the flank and a good through ball to Dravid seen the Striker drive a low shot on goal which forced Jasotharan to pull out another good save..
The Swell reacted to their keepers inpiration when Richards made a good run down the wing and when he found some space he hit a hard driving shot forcing Ryan Dunn to make his first real save of the day..
After a quiet first half of being marked by Mork, Nathan Hoy finally put a number on his opposing number as he slid comfortably passed into open space. Mork however was not done taking Hoy by the shirt and dragging him down.. Alain Sars issuing Mork with a caution..
Hoy was in the action again minutes later when he picked out an open Nitin Dravid with a throw, however Dravid was muscled off the ball by Sean Fuller, Fuller was warned by Sars for what looked to be a legal challenge..
The Swell seemed to be struggling to find any momentum and when Gough spray a shot after a nice Camps ball things weren't looking great...
The finishing however wasnt just a problem for the Swell as the Fury continued to create chances but were unable to capitalise.. Firstly Dravid sprayed a shot wide and then Markus was stopped by yet another Jasotharan supersave...
At the 60 minute mark the Swell finally seemed to be finding some fluency.. Firstly Celestino got some open space but was fouled badly by Fitzsimmons, earning the Fury midfielder a yellow. Gough was then unlucky not to win a free kick after having his shirt tugged by Okada..
The Swell realised they needed a change, and instructions came from the sidelines for them to start attacking..
Owain Bale was lucky to stay on the field after it was seen that he had Spat at Fitzsimmons, something the Fury Midfielder was not happy with.. Both players were given a warning.
On 72 minutes the Swell produced their best effort of the match to date when a Celestino cross found Kevin Gough who pulled out a miraculous overhead kick that grazed the post as it went wide..
The Fury were at it again though on 77 minutes when again Markus created space for Dravid who hit a cracking drive that beat Jasotharan but not the bar...
It became a game of end to end football, first the Swell with a Hutchinson shot and a great Dunn Save and then the Fury with another shot that beat Jasotharan and clipped the post..
On 86 minutes though the game was as good as over when a beautiful Markus ball found Dwyer making a run. The Striker was clean on goal when he was dragged down by Mork.. Referee Alain Sars had no hesitation in giving a second yellow to Mork and he was off for an early shower..
The board went up indicating there was 3 minutes of added on time..
The Swell weren't giving up however and a great ball from Borcic to Luff had the midfielder in space but an excellent sliding challenge from Fury captain Brendon Goff cut out the danger, and the Fury hit on the counter. Markus made a run down the flank and got a cross in for Kearsley who had been surging forward. Kearsley hit it with a good header but it deflected off a defender and out for a corner.. Jasotharan claimed the corner but then put his side under pressure with a poor clearance which found Fitzsimmons..
Fitzsimmons got passed a lazy challenge from Fuller and put O'Shannesy in, the Irishman drove a shot on goal forcing Jasotharan to parry it away..
The Final whistle blew.. It was over, the Fury had won the Pre-Season Cup.. The Celebrations were wild... Swell players were clearly upset.. A brilliant Final, Both teams gave their all and put on a great display..
