The 12 for the second test was announced and both Buggsy and Sam have retained their places, lets hope England do better this time.
That surely must beat South Africa for the most ridiculous selection policy ever (not referring to Bugssy's call-up, before anyone launches at me :)). Cloete? Bluefox? No...they have to pick the underperformer. :D

Then why me?
It wasn't just you - there were a lot more people who wanted to be all rounders that aren't - Kwek, Nath, Craze, Bleufox, Chapman...practically everyone wanted to be an all rounder, and there were so many spinners, i had to change people.

The return match against Surrey could well have been the decider for the National League Second division - shame that the CW XI players didn't play very well.

After Surrey had won the toss and batted first, Kearsley struck twice early on to remove Stewart and Radcliffe, but then Ally Brown and Mark Ramprakash took great delight in pummeling the spinners to all parts, the platform they set allowed Alex Tudor to come in and smash 40 not out in quick time laters on. Surrey scored 274-5 only Kearsley could be satisfied with his bowling.

49-6, that was the calamity CW got themselves in to, man of the match Tudor defying the sledging about his laxidasical attitude to take 5 of them. Cloete and Kearsley put on 49 before Cloete departed for 30. Kearsley then put on 50 with Nath and reached his half century but it was only a face saving knock as the run rate was far ahead. Nath, Chapman and Halsey all got runs but CW weer eventually all out for 216 with 9 balls left.

The promotion is still on the cards but the title is probably beyond us now, and after losing twice to surrey we dont deserve it.

Surrey 274-5 beat CW 216 by 58 runs

Team: Eclipse(0) Blewy(4) Gray(19) Nichani(6) Bluefox(1) Cloete(30, 6-0-41-2) Richards(4, 5-0-35-0) Kearsley(67, 9-2-38-2) Nath(31, 7-0-36-0) Halsey(28, 9-0-41-0) Chapman(15*, 9-0-69-0)

The longer version of the game is proving much more to our liking now and Northants were our next victims.

The toss was won and there were changes to the side that lost to Surrey, Ferd in to open and BK Smith at 3, Craze took the keepers gloves and Hall came in to replace Kearsley who was out for a few days with a cold.

A solid opening partnership of 45 was followed by one of the best partnerships seen for a while, the new boys in the team, Ferd and BK Smith put on 295 as both scored centuries. Smith was finally out for 158 and Ferd followed for 161 but the rest of the order contributed although only Cloete with 85 scored heavily and the Web got to 566 all out.

Hall and Nath got wickets early and then all the bowlers bowled as a unit to dismiss the Northants boys for 195 and enforce the follow on. Only Russell Warren with 60 gave resistance.

They did a lot better second time out with their top 3 all getting to 50, Hussey scoring 97 but from 237-2 they rather subsided and the spin of Chapman was too much for them to take - 358 all out

Cricket Web 566 beat Northants 195 & 358 by an innings and 13 runs
MOM A Ferd

Team: A Ferd(161) Blewy(23) BK SMith(158) Craze(6) Nichani(45) Bluefox(33) Cloete(85,14-4-27-2 & 26-5-63-0) Nath(10, 8-1-25-1 & 14-0-49-2) Halsey(18, 20-2-48-2& 43-14-81-2) Hall(0, 12.1-0-39-3 & 15.5-4-45-1) CHapman(1*, 22-2-47-2 & 46-6-113-5)

Now top of the Championship div 2 table.

The second test has started and both Sam and Buggsy were in the eleven, will post when it has finished.

Oh Dear, Oh Dear, a third successive OD loss means we might have to fight to the last day for our promotion - three games ago it looked nailed on but now three teams have only one loss more than us so it could get tight.

PLaying northants, we won the toss and batted first, we got off to a fantastic start with Ferd and Blewy putting on 95 in quick time, BK Smith came in and carried on when Blewy was out. We got to 143 for one when Swann got the first of his 5 wickets, Ferd for 79 from 58 balls. Age Master and Nichani soon followed and we had slipped to 157-4. Bluefox joinde Smith and they rebuilt with a partnership of 45 berfore Smith went for 62. Cloete then came in adn he and Bluefox put on a half century partnership but when it was broken, the Web collapsed, having been on for over 300 they only got 271 with 3 overs unused.

Early on the signs were good, Kearsley returned from his cold to take two early wickets but Hussey and Sales smashed the spinners about before Cloete and Pickup got 2 wickets each to alter the game again in CW favour. But then that man Swann came in and hit 53 from 39 balls to frustrate the CW Bowlers. Those extra runs could have made the difference.

Northants 272-8 beat CW XI 271 by 2 wickets

Team: Ferd (79) Blewy(40) Smith(62) Age Master(2) Nichani(2) Bluefox(45) Cloete(21, 9-0-68-3) Kearsley(9, 7-0-42-3) Thomas(3, 9-0-63-0) Hall(2, 8-0-44-0) Pickup(4*, 9-0-55-2)

In the Test match England Lost again, though it was closer this time - both the CW players performed Admirably - Sam Vimes scored 35 and 57* and Buggsy scored 16 & 4 but bowled well with figures of 30-8-73-4 and 17-2-52-2, but ultimately Sachin Tendulkar scored a century in both innings as India won by 4 wickets.

That means Tendulkar has scored 464 runs in the first 2 tests in 3 innings. Buggsy managed to get the great man in the first innings (his second test wicket - his first was Ganguly who also scored a century and whom he also got in the second innings.)

With the OD slip-ups it was good to get back to a bit of the longer version - also good news for the CW bar, some of the players tabs are higher than their run tallies.

Notts were the opponents at Trent Bridge, as side also pushing for promotion so it was good to win the toss and bat first on a peach of a pitch. Ferd certainly thought so as he raced to 38 off 39 balls before going for the a quick single resulted in a Ganguly-esque dismissal that entertained the sparse crowd. BK SMith came in to join Blewy and they put on a hundred partnership before Smith edged Boje behind to Read for 48. Another 50 partnership followed with Age master and Blewy brought up his maiden FC ton. Vimes came in for his first post test innings and hit 24, Bluefox then became the first CW player to pass 1000 fc runs for the season - Well done! At 314-4 we were extremely handily placed but a flurry of wickets meant that we would be dissapointed with our final score of 417.Blewy scored a magnificent 173.

Hall got an early wicket and Thomas bowled a good early spell as wickets fell regularly - no Notts batsman could score a 50 but they all bar no. 10 Smith got into double figures. Thomas was the pick of the bowlers takeing his maiden 5-for for the web as Notts were out for 252 and forced to follow on.

At 119-4 in their second innings it looked like Notts would collapse easily, Thomas having added another 3 wickets. But that would have dismissed Nicky Boje and he went on to score a painstaking 132 from 321 balls and supported by his whole lower order, particularly Franks he moved Notts on to 420-8 at the end of the middle session on day 4 when they declared to give CW 256 to win in one session.

15 minutes before tea went OK and Blewy thought he have a go after tea, after all he was clearly in form. He and Ferd put on 110 in 14 overs but when Ferd fell with an hour and 15 left a mini collapse meant that Bluefox and Cloete played for a draw at the end. 256 in 35 overs might have been a bit too far. But Blewy still hit 79 from 57 balls.

Cricket Web 417 and 187-5 drew with Notts 252 and 420-8 dec
Blewy MOM

Team: Ferd (38 & 47) Blewy(179 & 79) BK Smith(49 & 2) Age Master(34 & 3) Vimes( 24 & 10) Bluefox (26 & 31*) CLoete(3& 15*, 12-2-35-0 & 20-4-48-0) Kearsley(6, 13-4-32-0 & 19-3-45-1) Thomas(27 & 24.3-1-95-5 & 53-10-142-5) Hall(11, 16-3-33-1 & 26-5-67-1) Chapman( 0*, 25-6-47-3 & 44-10-108-1)

Thats a lot of overs for Rueben!

The next test squad was announced and it included Malone but surprisingly omitted Vimes after a good last test - England's loss is CW's gain.

Genius. Drop after good performances, retain after poor. Anyone spell "Duminy"? ;)

Tough luck with the draw, but I feel sure we can bounce back :)

The third test matcb proved dissapoitning again for England and Bugsy Malone - A loss By 144 runs, Malone scoring 24 and 0 and taking 1-162 in the match.

While England were losing Cricket Web were playing Derbyshire and having a better time of it than Buggsy that for sure.Bennett and Blewy opened up well, both scoring half centuries, and Weber and Vimes also got fifties. Bluefox scored a fine century and further half centuries from Richards and Kearsley enabled CW to declare on 664-9 leaving Mr Wright 31* off 36.

As so often is the case a good opening partnership of 67 was only the prelude to a collapse and Derbyshire lost 4-2 to be 69-4, Thomas the prime instigator. Bailey was the most accomplished derby batsman and he hit a half century, some late order hitting from Wharton adn Lungley could stop the follow on though as they were bowled out for 267. Thomas taking 5-88.

The second dig started with Mr Wright picking up Di Venuto but Bailey hit another 50 and Dowman and Stubbings offered some support but the pressure was too great and despite another Wharton Cameo they were bowled out for 263 to give CW an innings victory.

CW 644-9 dec beat Derbyshire 267 and 263 by an innings and 114 runs
