11 March
A packed racing day. Three races.
Paris - Nice
Prologue, Issy-les-Molinaux, 6 km with a 1 km climb of 9 %
The midway climb made the prologue tricky to negotiate, and none of the Casson Dairy riders managed top ten. Fabian Cancellara set an early dominating time, and though both
Mørk and
Mitchell were competitive up to the top, they fell down the rungs downhill.

Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen
Stage Three, Ichtegem
Merckx a clear favourite.
Hoy to stay around him and wait for an opportunity.
However, things didn't quite pan out that way. A frantic chase from T-Mobile to an early break including
Gelman,
Thomas and van De Walle (Quick Step) only meant that their riders were all tired out, and unable to defend Baumann's jersey in any case. At 15 km, Merckx began a high pace and easily caught
Gelman's group; however, van de Walle stayed alone in front with a gap of 40 seconds.
Hoy waited, but clung on over the top of the hill, while
Gelman set himself in front and slowed the pace enough for
Hoy to rejoin. In the group were also Brandt, Vandenbroeck, Aerts (Predictor), Tankink, Facci (Quick Step), Lowe (Discovery) and Merckx, Guerini (T-Mobile). Of those, only Facci and Merckx had avoided the split peloton on day 1.
Vandenbroeck and Merckx had done their bit of the work, though, and fell off in the downhill. This left an eight-man group chasing Van De Walle; Lloyd (Predictor) also managed to rejoin the group. Up the next hill, a 17 % spike, Brandt attacked and
Hoy followed him, and it seemed as though only Lowe and Tankink had to give up.
Hoy trailing two Belgians
The 7 men came together again in the downhill, though, where Brandt's long sprint was enough to beat a rallying Facci;
Hoy tired in the final 100 metres and fell down to fourth behind Tankink, which meant sixth in the overall, pipped by Baumann and Van De Walle's bonus seconds.

Giro del Capo
Stage 5, mostly flat, Cape Town
There is, however, a rather steep climb with 15 km to go. There's no bonus seconds, but
Fensome's last chance to win is an attack there.
Forner, Pares and
Reddlapalli did a cracking work in tearing up the pace before the last 20 km.
The final, short 2 km climb was enough for
Fensome to attack and go first over the hill. Vanendert would have caught him if the hill was 500 meters longer; instead
Fensome got away over the top and rode solo the final 15 km.
Vanendert seeing the gap grow
A stunning victory to steal Vanendert's thunder on the final day. Including the 8 bonus seconds,
Fensome won the race by just over half a minute.

Summary: 4 of 6 stages, general classification, mountains classification and team classification all won. Not too shabby. Our sprinters were sacrificed in the final stage, but overall I think it was worth it.
