Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

A harder question: what's the best English playing XI you can make that fits this?
Trying to produce an XI with the stricter rule that each pair must have actually played together, not just had overlapping careers, I came up with:

WG Grace
Alec Stewart
Ken Barrington
Denis Compton
George Ulyett
Les Ames
Ian Botham
Andrew Flintoff
Wilfred Rhodes
Derek Underwood
Stuart Broad

There are of course many options, though AFAICT you have to include either Rhodes or both Woolley and Freddie Brown.

Bowlers are not bowling machines; they have the ability to Mankad.

Bowling machines are not bowlers; they don't have the ability to Mankad.

These days, batsmen think that bowlers are bowling machines.

You can argue about what should have mae the cut and all that, but this video features a wicket by Ravi Bopara amongst the england highlights of the decade. This is a good video.

Posted this here as it's about a ten minute interview with SOK on Sydney radio this morning.

The usual blokey bullshit aside, I thought the comments about prepping for T20s compared with FC and test matches interesting. Anyway, have a listen if you want. If you don't idgaf.

And yes, he appears to have been sober for the interview

Michael Clarke joining the Big sports breakfast might see some more cricket content. Be interesting to see how he goes

Most wickets after 70 test matches

Muttiah Muralitharan - 382
Ravichandran Ashwin - 362
Dale Steyn - 357
Richard Hadlee and Dennis Lillee - 355

Ashwin was fastest to 300 wickets (and probably 350 too). So not surprising. Not going to be able to keep up with mad wicket taking rate of Murali from here on, or even likes of Warne, McGrath, Hadlee and Steyn.

Wish Steyn had stayed fit for a few more years.. :(

Would have loved it if he had cracked that 550-600 mark. Was well on track to get there. If only he had Anderson's durability..

It's a real shame Steyn didn't keep on going, but tbh I'm surprised he didn't throw in the towel earlier with all the injuries he had suffered from in the previous 2-3 years. Breaking Shaun Pollock's wickets record was definitely a major motivation, but it seemed clear by then that his body couldn't take the strain of bowling wheels all day anymore. Still has a fair bit to offer in T20 cricket but it's time to savour the closing days of one of the greatest fast bowlers I have ever seen

On the topic of shortish South African quicks, am I the only one who thought Friedel de Wet was underrated?

Edit: FFS CW filter de C.ock is an international cricketer. You can't filter c.ock anymore ffs

It's a good thing the filter doesn't bleep out "Essex", "Sussex", "Middlesex" etc.
