Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

So the "Teams since 1877" thread revival reminded me of that thing people tried to do around here a few years back where you had to use overlapping players to trace from your country's most recent test back to their first, in as few steps as possible.

I can't remember if it was a thread of its own or not, but anyway, had a bit of time this arvo and came up with this list for Australia. Not sure if it's possible to get any less players than 12 between the third test vs NZ just gone and the first test vs England in 1877.

Smith
Ponting
S Waugh
Hookes
Walters
Burge
K Miller
B Brown
Oldfield
Armstrong
Trumble
Blackham

I'd offer to do Afghanistan and Ireland, but htey're all a bit too hard

Anyway, reprising it as I'm bored. Fire away if there's any shorter list.
Blackham - Syd Gregory - Kelleway - Bradman - Harvey - Simpson - Wood - Healy - Ponting - Smith is I think as short as possible.

Not Terrible
Smith-Ponting-Boon gets you back even further though I'm having trouble connecting Boon to anyone significantly far back.

International Coach
England:

1. George Ulyett (1877 to 1890)
2. Bobby Abel (1889 to 1902)
3. Wilfred Rhodes (1899 to 1930)
4. Wally Hammond (1927 to 1947)
5. Godfrey Evans (1946 to 1959)
6. Brian Close (1949 to 1976)
7. Graham Gooch (1975 to 1995)
8. Graham Thorpe (1993 to 2005)
9. James Anderson (2003 to 2020)
10. Dom Bess (2018 to 2020)

Think that's the best; love the redundancy of Evans.

A harder question: what's the best English playing XI you can make that fits this?

Well deserved. Finally an award won by an England cricketer not named Ben Stokes.

Cricketer Of The Year
Wow. Just discovered that the famous Channel 9 cricket theme was originally used by Aussie cop drama "Bluey" by channel 7, first aired in 1976. A lot of people might remember this bloke as Bargearse.

Does anybody know when the draw for the Lord's ballot is actually announced? I'm in for Pakistan tickets. I was in last year for the Ashes and absolutely do not remember it taking this long for me to hear.

Thanks.
