Congrats Sachin Tendulkar

Haha. You have no idea how wrong you are. There were those who genuinely thought Ganguly was better than Tendulkar.
As what ? As a batsman or as a dancer ?

I am a pretty big fan of Sourav and have lived most of life in a town that is obsessed with him but I am not sure I have ever heard anyone seriously trying to suggest that Sourav was better.

The thing that actually bugs me about this 100 hundres nonsense is that it detracts from Tendulkar's ODI greatness.

That's his 49th ODI ton. Completing the top 5 are, off the top of my head, Ponting (30), Jayasuriya (25), Ganguly (23) and Herschelle Gibbs (22). That's just a ridiculous level of run getting.
And they still say that he wasn't ahead of his peers ?

Guys, don't want to upset your rants here but SACHIN TENbloodyDULKAR has hit 100 100's... 100 of them! Hasnt it sunk in? How many have we ever achieved? Exactly. Heil.

I'm always amused by how defensive people get over what should be a trivial, and fun, comparison between two careers separated by forty odd years. From a purely technical perspective, I doubt there is anything separating the two, or for that matter many of the legendary batsmen of the past fifty years. So all you have is Bradman's obscene stats garnered against four countries in two countries versus someone's prodigious run getting and appetite across continents, time, and formats. I don't think it's "cricketing ignorance" to imagine Bradman's statistics depreciating significantly if he had played in the modern era as opposed to Tendulkar's appreciating if he'd played in the Don's time.
This is a thread congratulating Sachin's great achievement, so let's not ruin the thread by bringing the Don into it please.

It strains credulity to state that this tread wouldn't have attracted negativity or trollish posts if not for the OP. All the OP achieved was give some a ready made excuse to troll IMO. But even if Daemon hadn't posted what he did, it still would've happened.

You know what? What's done is done and I'm going to attempt to fix it. I'm moving all of the Tendulkar criticism posts to the Tendulkar criticism thread and creating a new thread for the congratulatory posts. Hopefully that helps.

Done this now. My apologies if the posts seem out of place because of this.

Whatever it takes!!!
Most of Tendulkar's achievements of late showcase the single biggest factor where he stands above all other cricketers.. In terms of sustained excellence against the test of time. This is just one more of those, IMO... It is not his average runs per inning or whatever that boggles the mind, it is just how long he has been maintaining it that does.. I would love to see a year by year break up of where his career average was.. Apart from a period of maybe 3 to 4 years in the noughties, he has had very consistent numbers every year for about 20 years and that is just mindnumbing..

Different people rate greatness in different ways and I can see why, for those who value longevity more than other facets of the sport, he is simply the best since Bradman...

Congratulations Sachin Tendulkar!! Your 100th 100 was an absolutely magical achievement! SRT has broken so many records that are unlikely to ever be broken again. Just an amazing performance from one of the greats. He deserves everything that comes his way.
