It's not just blindly spinner v seamer though. Many people would only want two spinners because there are two such great ones available.
bang on target...a good balance of spin and seam was already there...I picked the best bowler available for the last spot...could have taken even a batting al-rounder if it didn't mean missing on such a great bowler (cz bowling is already the stronger point of the team even without Murali, if compared to, say, a pre-Packer XI)...

Can't you just "fix" the poll as the CW Vice Head? And while you're at it, add Wasim to the poll options. :p
It would make sense to have a left armer, and a bowler who could produce the unplayable ball, which if we are playing a great team, it might come in handy, not to mention his decent batting:)

Yeah I would love to have Wasim for the variety. IMO Ambrose is better overall, but we already have Imran, Hadlee, and Marshall. A lefty, especially one with the tricks of Wasim, would add wonderful variety to the attack.

I think too many people opted not to vote for Wasim because they wanted to vote for him in this poll effectively screwing him over. Quite frankly, I think it criminal for him not to be anywhere close to a post Packer XI.

I'm not sure what variety Wasim is going to bring? We already have two very capable swingers in Imran and Marshall. Plus, as much as I love him, he probably isn't as good as the seamers above (not counting all-rounders).

EDIT: I guess because he is left-handed.

Thats assuming people really are voting that way, and not for the bowler they think better. I mentioned as much earlier with my comment regarding Lillee, yet he has picked up 3 more votes, and Ambrose has gained ground on McGrath. This may indicate a preference for a better bowler, not necessarily for a pacer or spinner.

I do agree thought that a vote between Murali, McGrath, and Kallis would likely have been better.
