" Australia's record is outstanding, while India are a distant last with a shockingly dismal success rate of 5% (though optimists will point out that India have at least played 19 final games, only three fewer than Australia). "

oh you optimists, how you keep the world bright and shiny :p

Yeah India are horrible in finals. Sad really.

Australia's dominance is obvious. The thing about their finals is they often give the opposition a window to win, and then shut it. As to just laugh in their face. Did it against Pakistan in 2004/05's VB Series twice, and then even gave SL a final win and then had a horrid start in teh 2nd final before annihilating them.

It's suprisingly nice to see SA so far away from the bottom of that list.

How on earth can India fail so badly?

Does that mean that the only one day final they've won since 1999 was the one where Hussain got a ton? No wonder you were so happy, that's an amazingly bad record for such a good side.

There's your faulty assumption.

I'm pretty sure they were 'happy' about that win because they were 5-146 chasing 326 for victory and two 20 year-old no-namers smashed the English bowlers all around the park and won a game they had no right winning.

Not because they knew "Ah crap, this is the only final we're going to win in the next 4 years."

I am a little suprised and pleased at seeing SL ranked so high.
(They do well with relatively limited resources)

You've lost me, I'm afraid.

But Stephen Milligan is up there (Google him if you've never heard of him, trust me it's worth it).

Didn't know he was shagging Kirkbride, quite a sort as Tory MPs go.

IMO
