Can you beat for the cricket guru title?

PY

International Coach
Is he famous around the world or will people from a particular country only have heard of him?

Well , This Man famous in his own field receiving the utmost acclaim , scored 18 and 12 batting at No.8 and 4 and 1 as an opener in his only two games of First Class Cricket (I guess University games must be regarded thus, aren't they) and was wicketless when he bowled . Who is he ?

Samuel Beckett

(I also was surprised that no-one got it, seeing as I nearly asked it myself a couple of days ago)

You Literary Genius!! Congratulations! I was fed up and just about to leave for the night. Was it my clue 'Waiting for God! Oh!' that gave it away ?

No, I hadn't seen the question until just now, and it's the kind of thing I know (we live in different time zones).

It's been 24 hours since Eddie answered the question, and he hasn't come up with a new one.

So... disqualified.

I'll go with the next question:

Which cricketer has the highest score ever by a batsman coming in at No. 9 in Tests? (Score, opposition and year as well)
