Calendar Draft

AndrewB

International Vice-Captain
I'm not going to make a fuss or demand re-picks or anything, but (from now on) I don't think we should move on to the next pair until both members of a pair have picked/timed out. As it stands, I've not used my 8 hours (it's only about 5 hours since the first pair for the round timed out), but 3 people have jumped ahead of me.

I'll pick Andy Flower (April).

@Bitmap now you are on clock alongside @Fuller Pilch . AndrewB is talking about a really frustrating problem here, but if wait for both of them to pick or after one picks the other to get timed out; then we really aren't saving time here. I feel somewhat responsible as I had announced many a next drafter. I am sure the senior drafters could come up with a balanced solution.

As a noted pillar of the CW Draft Community*, pretty sure AndrewB's method is how it is supposed to work. You shouldn't skip people who haven't timed out yet, gotta let both players pick (or time out) before moving to the next pair.

Pretty sure the Fantasy Cricket 2024 draft worked with people getting skipped over but that could have been due to the tight deadline to get drafting done before the season starts.

I think we are saving a slight bit of time as two people are up during the 8 hour slot so at least one other person gets to pick during that slot if someone times out.

On another forum that I'm on, we have a rule where you can leave your pick with the next drafter if you know you're going to be up soon. The picking time is 8 hours for the first round and 4 hours thereafter, but you get 8 hours if the player you left with your fellow drafter is picked anyway so you have enough time to get back on and pick without missing your turn. However, this requires foresight and less laziness so I think it won't work here.

I think the best we can do if they haven't picked up their catch up pick until their turn in the next round; is not to wait for them. Like Kenneth Viljoen haven't picked a single pick in two rounds yet, I think waiting for him in the third round should only be of 4 hours or so; or if he picks both his picks before that.
For @Kenneth Viljoen we will skip his next turn unless he catches up on his catchup picks before that point

Trying to find which draft it was but my memory of this rule in previous drafts it ran similarly to this.

However, am happy to change it at start of R4. Anyone with a view on the matter please let me know.

- could either have just 1 drafter on the clock - 6 hour timeouts with additional provision that if you are picking from a month that all the drafters before you have already picked from you can jump the queue (given those you've jumped ahead of wouldn't have been able to pick that player anyway)

- or have a system similar to this (still 8 hour timeouts) but only the drafter immediately after you can jump ahead of you in order before you time out. So in your instance Krypto would've been able to pick prior to you still but AZH and Himannv wouldn't have until you timed out. Provision about making your pick early if it is a pick that everyone before you in the order couldn't make would still apply too.

I initially thought the premise of this thing was having 2 drafters on the clock at any given time as was done in the Fantasy Draft mentioned above
