Bumrah needs the below number of wickets at below average to statistically match some of the ATG quicks.

Garner - 54 @ 26.96
Donald - 125 @ 26.94
Lillee - 150 @ 30.11
Imran - 157 @ 27.27
Waqar - 168 @ 28.64
Marshall - 171 @ 22.80

Keeping stats aside, I think he has surpassed Waqar already. Need to do some more work to match or surpass some of the others, though Marshall is a steep ask.

If he takes another 95 wickets @ 25 or so, he will be a confirmed top 10 all time quick for me. A better average and some more awesome performances will even get him into the debate for top 5.
For me he's surpassed Waqar, Davidson as well, arguably Pollock. Guys like Anderson and Walsh too obviously as I don't rate them as ATGs.

If he can get to 300, he's definitely top 10, and not pacers, bowlers over all.

What I wonder though, is with the retirement of Ashwin, would India be more open to equalling the balance of their home pitches.

Anyways at that point, he's in my AT XI. Imagine an attack of Marshall, McGrath (Hadlee may have a better shout at this point), Bumrah and Warne.

From the footages I have seen, he looks closer to Marshall than to Garner in terms of Skill. Could bowl very fast, had a great bouncer, could swing the bowl, seems like a very skilled bowler to me.
Yeah, I rate him higher than Garner. He was the better bowler and had and carried the burden of being the no. 1 guy.

Skill wise he had everything, his biggest drawback is similar to Bumrah's.

Injury concerns.

I rate Garner higher actually.

Tougher era, and I think people are jumping the gun in rating Bumrah, same way they did with Smith and Kohli.
Yes I get that sense as well. He seems a candidate for either a shorter career or a major breakdown affecting his stats.

Anderson should be considered as a ATG because of his insane longevity.

Not better than pollock. Long way to go. Pollock was averaging 19 after 50 tests.

Indian quicks have been very successful at home for the last decade or so and match Ashwin and Jadeja neck to neck in averages.

Bumrah, Shami and Umesh have a combined 224 wickets at home @22.77 which compare favorably with the spin duo.

Don't think India need to do anything different than they were doing in the past decade. Pitches have been conducive to world class spinners as well as quicks.
