Lara was more special I believe, though Steyn is the more statistical outlier. I'll go with Lara just, but expect Steyn to win this as I rate Lara higher than most here.

Bro??!! Against my better judgment: Steyn. I rank Lara the batsman around the same level with bowlers like Imran, Akram and Ambrose ie right after Steyn.

Respectively, these adjectives you use are worse than CricketWeb titles.
It's a noun actually. And Lara was a genius in the sense that how he played achieved a level of excellence but totally defied the playbook.

And I'm still trying to figure out CW titles.

No he was a master. The Little Master.

I go over the distinction here. But essentially, geniuses are the ones who play in their own way and redefine their skill. Masters achieve technical proficiency to the utmost degree.
