Ridiculously close.

Both just outside the very highest tier, think Smith, Lara and Hutton are a bit closer to the tier above them than Steyn, Ambrose, Warne and Murali are, but it's arguable.

I find it tough to say Sachin isn’t a genius.

He was a prodigy from the school days. He has always been technically perfect.

There is a video from 1995 where Sunil Gavaskar saying he would be disappointed if Sachin didn’t end up with at least 15000 runs and 40 centuries.

Fair. But in how he played it was quite textbook.
