I hope Daniel Geale kicks Mundine from here to Hobart and back. Appalling comments from Mundine at the press conference, unsurprisingly.

From the BBC.

Yo-yo dieting former cokehead who's 34 in October reapplies for his licence.

Won't end well, surely?
A loss in 9 for the former Hitman, then.

I think a lot of the boxing press who'd somehow talked the comeback up as not an absolutely appalling decision want to have a good, hard look in their shaving mirrors today. Before the fight Hatton looked cut but his face betrayed him; had the gaunt look of a man tight at the weight and the lines and wrinkles gave him a wizened appearance of a man twenty years older than his 34 years.

I take no pleasure in being right, because he's a good bloke, but it's an unforgiving business.

Which leads us onto Freddie...

Carl Froch summed it up well; imagine if Ricky fought anyone good?

Hatton looks like someone who needs some serious taking care off and Hatton saying that's the end of Ricky Hatton after the fight was fairly worrying considering he has suicidal thoughts.

Richard Dawson's filled out since he was bowling for England, eh?

Nah, seriously I hope Fred puts on a good show. Sky has had a documentary on for the last couple of Thursdays From Lord's To The Ring (which is an ace title, tbf) and he's been deadly serious about it all. Dropped 20kgs and, as one can see from the weigh in film in the link above, is in much better shape than his opponent, who is sporting some trainee bitch ****.

Fred is very rough around the edges and, from the sparring I've seen is a bit of a "slapper". By which I mean he throws punches without being planted and sometimes hits with the heel of his hand rather than flush with his fist. Nearly broke his thumb landing one such, in fact.

Fight itself isn't on Sky, so might have to "tune" my "telly" to another channel to catch it.

The other guy is going to have to drop some weigh before the fight. It's hard to overcome a natural weight advantage. Will be rooting for Freddie of course but it could be bad.

Didn't see any of the fight, but just saw the ref on the news raising Freddie's arm - the bloke he was fighting looked absolutely filthy about the decision!

Four two minute rounds ffs - has boxing become a sport for lasses in the 20 years since I last took an interest in it?

Nah, decision seemed fair to me, the knock down was more a slip.

Freddie won it, the guy he beat supposedly won a fight in 19 seconds including the count, i'd hate to see that guy.

Didn't see the fight, but belated justice for Marquez as he was properly stitched up last time they fought.

Saw Kessler fight Brian Magee for the WBA Super Middleweight title tho (which confused me as I thought Andre Ward was the WBA champ, but anyway). Magee was badly out of his depth. Kessler was clinical with the body shots.
