I'm not mad at that to be honest. In terms of a stay busy or voluntary fight he's a legite opponent, and it obviously comes with a nice paycheque.
The only problem is Joshua doesn't really deserve the shot coming off a loss. But that's not really Parker's problem. I mean hell, if he's on a stay busy fight then a good option would even be Whyte. Should be an easy win, avenge a loss, and probably look good doing it. AJ at least is significantly better than that.
The one thing I don't want to see happen is a big layoff and inactivity waiting for the Usyk fight which - let's be honest may never happen either due to politics or because Usyk opts to retire.
Fine, apply pressure to push for the fight. But don't wait around for it. Stay active.

Yeah, this is my real problem here. When Joshua's best win in the last 4 years was against Wallin (a guy who would then be fairly convincingly beaten by Chishora) he really shouldn't be close to a title shot (even for a vacated belt). And the nature of his defeat v Dubois was horrendous. Yeah, styles make fights and all that, but Joshua displayed such glaring defensive errors in that fight that he really did just look completely washed. Needs a win v another top 10 opponent before he gets himself back in the frame (would love to see Joshua v a fit Bakole).
Nonetheless, agreed it'll be a good pay day, and it seems unlikely that Parker will ever find a better time to try and avenge his Joshua loss. And agreed about Parker staying active. If a Joshua fight doesn't happen, the next in the WBO rankings is Justis Huni, who really shouldn't be at Parker's level.

RIP big George. my favourite heavyweight of all time.
Some highlights:
- at the time he fought Ali in the Rumble in the Jungle, he was 40-0, with wins over Joe Frazier (who was also undefeated and undisputed champion at the time and had beaten Ali), Ken Norton (who had also beaten Ali). After the loss to Ali his win over Ron Lyle is probably the greatest heavyweight slugfest ever. Ali never gave Foreman his rematch.
- During his comeback, early on he had wins over Dwight Muhammad Qawi, who, while a lightheavyweight/cruiserweight, was a very skilled boxer and this fight was a great watch.
- His iconic knockout of Gerry Cooney with that brutal step in uppercut was also a very good win, Cooney himself having wins over Norton, Jimmy Young, and Ron Lyle
- Taking the best of Holyfield's brutal combinations - the same guy who Mike Tyson could not stand up to - well into his forties shows how tough and iron chinned he was
- The win to get the title off Moorer is so astonishing - 45 years old, 20 years after originally being a title holder.
- "losing" to Briggs (he Foreman clearly won that fight) and then defending Briggs' in the ring shows the character of the man.

I don't know if anyone has ever been as feared as Big George was in his prime. People in Ali's dressing room were in tears before the RitJ because they thought Ali was going to get killed.

As washed as Joyce is, I think this is a horrible style match up for Hrgovic and a really odd fight to be taking on late notice given he'll get no credit if he wins. Also it's a very mentally challenging fight to take after the dubois loss.
I see Joyce's superior stamina and jab dominating the fight from the mid rounds and I think it'll be a late stoppage or maybe Hrgovic quits on his stool

I actually think the red flag was his one win in his last five fights which was against Kash Ali who is absolutely useless, Joe was so ponderous that night, anyone with a pulse gets Kash out early.
I admire him for taking the Zhang fight as he probably could have waited it out and got a more lucrative and less risky fight but nonetheless it was folly as his style was tailormade for Zhang and the second fight the knockdown was brutal.
He is absolutely done which is no surprise, he's near 40, his style which is pretty much to absorb punishment and wear down the opponent isn't ideal for career longevity or for a healthy life afterwards , he doesn't have knockout power and is really slow so yeah oops.
Washed which is a shame as he seems like a nice bloke.

Losing to Hrgovic isn't a shameful thing.
The big difference between last night and e.g. when he fought Parker and Dubois is that the feet are gone. He was always pretty slow but his footwork used to be pretty decent. Now he looks off balance when he's throwing punches.
Still i wouldn't want to fight him. Like I doubt AJ or Whyte or Wilder think that's a nice easy comeback fight.
