Huh. Well that was pretty conclusive.

Hope Bakole got a wheelbarrow full of money, because that was the perfect advertisement for not taking a fight at 48 hours' notice.

That was really weird. Parker looked like he was getting touched up by Bakole's body work and almost looked like he was getting desperate before landing that shot.

Kabayel is the real boogieman of the division IMO. No one wants that smoke.

You can understand the corner throwing in the towel at the first sign of trouble. Bakole's probably barely slept in the last 24 hours.

Parker looked slow as ****, this extra weight he's carrying is a terrible idea against anyone who hasn't just rolled off the couch.

Can Adam Smith please shut the **** up?

That was 6-6 IMO. Beterbiev knicked the last round to make it a draw.

That was such a great fight btw. Waaaay better than anything else on the card. The difference in levels was crazy, going from fat Joe Parker and fat Martin Bakole to shredded, technically perfect murderous Beterbiev and light, nimble, jab of the gods Bivol.

Objectively, you would think that Parker winning with a second round KO would be quite dramatic and fun but instead it was just a massive anti-climax. Both guys looked insanely vulnerable. If Parker had put a beating on and then got the KO it might have been respectable. Meh.

Usyk is 8 years post his prime and has ran through this division and I still can't see anyone except maybe Kabayel beating him.

Predictions:
- Beterbiev vs Bivol rematch.
think Beterbiev will be aware that he needs more activity. I don't know if there is much more Bivol can do, but there are adjustments that Beterbiev could make. Will go with the old man here.
- Dubois vs Parker.
This is all about punch output. Parker has averaged 25 punches per round in his last 2 fights. Dubois has averaged 45. Unless somehow Parker has gained Zhang type power, I really don't see how he keeps Dubois off him. He's not really a slick defensive fighter and his back foot game is prone to many defensive mistakes.
Think this will be a career ending knockout. This could be brutal IMO.
- Zhang vs Kabayel
Kabayel is a younger, fitter, more hungry version of what Parker was. I think he can weather Zhang's early power and I suspect that he will stop him late.
- Ortiz Jr vs Israel Madrimov
I think Madrimov will school and possibly stop Ortiz Jr. I think they have bitten off more than they can chew here.
- Callum Smith vs Joshua Buatsi.
I'm not particularly a fan of either guy. But Buatsi should beat Smith if he is anything approaching world level. The Smith brothers are some of the luckiest people ever with the paydays they have received
- Obvious Stevenson will win his fight in boring fashion
- Sheeraz probably murders Adames

Not digging you out as I agreed with pretty much all the calls.

The obvious thing we all missed , was maybe Sheeraz is still a little raw and Adames is pretty good. Sheeraz very fortunate not to lose that.

Shakur scored 3 knockdowns and the fight somehow was still tedious LOL.

Bookies were right having Ortiz slight fav, although I think the money came for Madrimov close enough to the fight.

Yeah Ortiz was much better than I expected.

Hamzah Sheeraz just doesn't appear to have a second gear. Like, it's all well and good sticking out a long jab and making guys walk onto your punches, but he appears to have no ability to actually put pressure on someone.

The big shock for me was the method in which Kabayel destroyed Zhang. I had picked Kabayel to beat Zhang handily even by stoppage, but I didn't think he'd be able to do it by just standing right in front of him and beating him up on the inside.

I can't think of many fighters I'd pick to just stand right in front of Zhang and beat him up like that.

It means Kabayel is an extremely versatile fighter, skilled in both the inside and outside, back foot and front foot with a great gas tank. It's pretty impressive IMO.

I must say I think it would be kinda perverse if Dubois gets rewarded for pulling out of the fight with another shot at Usyk.

Turki should make Dubois fight Parker or Kabayel and one of them gets a shot at Usyk.

It’s boxing so Dubois will probably fight Usyk next because that’s where the money/interest is

Saudis must be hosing plenty of coin on these matchups as gate is nonexistent

I had Bivol winning clearly enough (I didn't think the 8-4 was outrageous, I had 8-4 or 7-5) but I'm sure I could find 2 rounds I gave Bivol that were close enough that I wouldn't quibble too much with a draw.

I had the first fight 7-5 Beterbiev or maybe a draw, although I probably slightly prefer Bivol overall so I'm not discounting a shade of bias in my scoring.

I'll probably try to watch the fight again at some point because as usual I was watching on a dodgy stream that went in and out a bit. My sense was that Bivol actually looked worse at points than he ever did in the first fight (where he lost a lot of rounds via inactivity rather than Beterbiev catching him with anything significant) but Beterbiev lost rounds when he became either tired or wary of Bivol's offence in a way that he didn't in the first fight.

I scored some early rounds for Bivol where it felt like the "story of the fight" (and the commentary) was starting to tilt towards Beterbiev but I still felt Bivol was edging him when viewing the round in isolation. There were definitely early rounds I could see people scoring the other way.

Re: Parker v Bakole, it's sort of a shame because it's a really interesting fight in theory, but now we've seen a half-arsed version of it which probably means we'll never see the "real thing".

Bakole is obviously a big man but I note that he fought at 229lb and 230lb earlier in his career and even relatively recently against Kuzmin he weighed 251. This new 280+ version of Bakole is basically just him being a fat guy who carries it pretty well. 310lb is not just a naturally huge guy being out of shape, he was grossly overweight.

Yeah, I guess all you can say for Parker is that in a no-win situation, he didn't lose anything.

Reckon he'll be matched up v Kabayel on the Usyk Dubois card next.

I like watching Tank fight, but he was blessed to escape not only with a draw and obviously Lamont should have been awarded a knockdown.

Tank just hasn't fought anyone. Why should I care about him?

Nice looking fighter. Zero important wins on his resume. Might as well be Jake Paul for all I care.

Presumably Parker will be given a bit of step-aside money and a spot on the undercard to ensure the Dubois Usyk fight can go ahead next.
