It's heavyweight boxing. Literally anyone can lose.

Dubois and AJ are both beasts.

I do have some questions about what Dubois was doing in Brazil and what the drug testing for this fight was like.
They're all juiced to the gills

Joshua has old wins over Klitschko, Parker, Ruiz, Povetkin.
Lately he has a dominant win over Wallin who was at least a top 20 heavyweight.
AJ has been at least a top 5 heavyweight for a long time.
Dubois has wins over Hrgovic, Miller and now AJ.

I just think we're in an extremely entertaining era of heavyweight boxing.
Agreed, Joyce battered Parker and to a lesser extent Dubois but got murdered twice by Zhang who also lost to Parker.

Its a cliche, but styles make fights indeed.

Joshua fought braindead tonight, the rematch isn't something that hugely interests me but it makes sense financially for all so probably happens sadly .

Dubois is not going to get fat like Ruiz but he is very hittable so yeah I do give AJ a chance in any rematch although obviously Dubois would be huge fav.

Hope someone's looking out for Eddie Hearn this weekend. Everytime it's seemed like the Joshua Fury megafight will happen, something gets in the way. Now it really does look properly dead.

Yeah, tbf Joshua was probably one more clean right away from sitting Dubois on his backside in round 5. Enough there for Joshua's camp to fancy their chances, though I tend to suspect a rematch probably ends the same way

I don’t think Dubois would win more than a couple of rounds against either Fury or Usyk

Parker would be a more interesting fight

Anyway, still remember Joshua’s speech after the last Usyk fight - the guy was clearly concussed and he’s hardly fought murderer’s row since so may well be finished

Given his physical advantages, he could have kept him on the end of a jab & cruised to a boring decision but he was reckless and technically inept

Did Dubois give Hrgovic a beating? What I saw was he got flogged by a fat and lazy Hrgovic, until he headbutted Hrgovic enough times that he gave up (this isn’t sticking up for Hrgo ftr, he was unfit and disengaged regardless, but he was punching Dubois’s head off and I’m not a fan of revisionist history)

That's probably being unfair to Dubois. Yeah, Hrgo nearly took his head off during the first 4 rounds, but from there on it was one way traffic.

It’s definitely unfair lol, I’m just saying it’s absolutely not true to act like that fight was one way traffic. Dubois looked terrible until Hrgovic gassed, and then he basically dominated for 1 or 2 rounds at which point it was stopped on cuts which, correct me if I’m wrong, were clearly caused by headbutts? It was a genuinely dodgy stoppage, although I think gassed Hrgo was about to quit anyway.

Dubois's not fit to lace AJ's gloves, absolute joke he was the IBF's mandatory.

Quit on his knees against Joyce and Usyk.
Well that post aged like a teenage mother with a meth addiction

Dubois dominated so fair play to him. I've been wrong before and will be again. Not always quite so spectacularly though.

I will say though that he's probably the most effective heavyweight headbutter since Holyfield.

He also has a few Evan Holy moments recently:
- Late enrolment in Vada, then jetted off to Brazil where Vada famously cannot access athletes
- Bit of a noticeable personality change recently.

Here's hoping this doesn't turn out to be a Ryan Garcia moment.

Hrgovic is very frustrating.

Looks like he loses interest once he's done throwing 1-2s. Hasn't added anything to his game since becoming a pro.

Ok top 10 heavyweights on CURRENT form

1. Usyk
2. Dubois (better recent wins than Fury or Parker)
3. Fury
4. Parker
5. Zhang
6. Joshua
7. Kabayel
8. Bakole
9. Hrgovic
10. Ruiz

Probably Chisora arguably has a shot to be there ahead of Ruiz.

Fights between any of these guys, any matchup is legite exciting and unpredictable.

How would Kabayel go against Bakole? Etc etc

Just a really fun era for heavyweight boxing IMO.

You’d have thought Joshua would have already learned not to go wading in with your guard down when you’ve rocked a bloke. It was a bit like watching a repeat of the Ruiz ending

Joshua and Wilder should be retired. Both look a shadow of their younger selves and have taken some horrible batterings in recent years. AJ was destroyed last night by someone who most would have considered a journeyman before the fight. How can he step in against a top fighter again without you fearing he will get hurt?

Good for Britain that we have so much depth in this division but I hope we have one less soon.

Agreed

Wilder took an horrendous battering from Fury and ended up with his skull caved in

He barely threw a punch in his last 2 fights and has no business being in the ring again

Unfortunately, boxing is littered with examples of guys who can’t give it away

Calling for Wilder to retire is one thing.

AJ?

Still an elite heavyweight IMO.

Defensive lapses and bad strategy aside, he's always had way more skill than Wilder and would still be dangerous against any of the top guys.

It's heavyweight boxing. Anyone can lose.

He’s a very wealthy guy who’s jeopardising his health

That performance was not simply a case of “oh, it’s heavyweight boxing”

It’s also irrelevant that he will be paid a fortune for his next fight(s)

His punch resistance is gone and that only ends up one way
