Black Caps Squad

Moss

International Captain
Chapman for sure if fit. Neesh played out of his skin against Aus but (hate to say it) his bowling is a major liability, and both captains seem happy to just keep bowling him.

If KW is not back, maybe worth switching Latham and Young in the batting order?

On the bowling, wonder what NZ’s best combination is. Probably Southee over Jamieson given that Tim gets to use the new ball. If Lockie isn’t a hundred percent time to bite the bullet and unleash Inderbir the predator.

On another note, the Black Caps are in my hometown for two games! .Couldn't get hold of a NZ jersey (thank you very much amazon for messing up the order), but will be there to cheer for them in tomorrow's game against Pakistan, and maybe the Sri Lanka game as well.

Obviously hoping to see a couple of semifinal-clinching victories, but given this could be a last chance to see several members of this group live (I hardly ever go to IPL games), this also has the feel of a "thanks for the memories" day out.

There will be many jersey sellers outside the stadium , so don't worry lol

Also happy for u being able to witness them playing live and many players for the last time as u said.

Would go Neesham+Sodhi for Chapman+Jamieson myself.
For me (as for you, by the looks) we're comparing batsmen when we look at Neesham/Chapman. Neesham is a busted arse when it comes to the ball, I've never seen someone so hittable at the death. And if we're playing at a small ground as Moss said, I just wouldn't even bother.

For me it's Conway Rachin Kane Mitchell Phillips Latham Neesham Santner Jamieson Boult Southee. Key things there: Phillips above Latham, Southee with the new ball, and Neesham nowhere near the death. I'd bowl him through the middle, ideally to unset batsmen if I needed to. Or maybe even not bowl him at all.

I know I've been a Chapman guy the whole way through but Neesham showed a lot in that Australian knock that I didn't think he had, and he generally doesn't show between World Cups.

Young isn't a bad player, just a bad opener.

Our middle order is full though. Still a red ball prospect/starter imo.

For a part time keeper who isn't used to it, keeping and opening the batting is reeeally tough if you field first.

Haven’t liked their bowling line up the last few games thought today they had too many spin options. Henry’s a big loss still, I’d have Ferguson and Jamieson in for Sohdi and Southee. Maybe even Neesham in, it’s a big concern that their last 3 games the other teams have put massive scores on them.

I kinda have a feeling this lot will be the ones to stumble their way into a world cup final victory after two much better NZ sides couldn't do it.

I'm not sure who's stopping the runs or taking the wickets yet.

But yes, we need to talk about the future of the ODI bowling. Most of these guys won't be there in 2027 and we know Stead will cram in mid domestic players like Kuggeleijn and Tickner (who need to make big improvements to crack this level imo) ahead of any actual Ford Trophy star performers.
