hey , i was surprised no one picked Zaheer Khan. This guy has a lot of talent, but does'nt utilise it well.

Ofcourse, who would forget Vinod Kambli. What a talent man?
He had such a great timing. But quite unlucky I should say

U19 Debutant
How about mahela jayawardane ? hailed as next great aravinda de-silva of srilankan cricket. He is just a flat track bully and cant play outside subcontinent. Underachieved for his talent and potential.

And forgetting Martin Love.Another classy batsman in the mould of mark waugh, but just could not make the cut in international cricket.

Mark Vermeulen definately deserves a mention, as does Craig Wishart.

And I second the nomination of Mathew Sinclair.

What about.. i think his name was Neil Johnson?

He played exceptionaly well in the 99 World Cup for ZIM IIRC but I never heard much about him since then

That cus he retired after all thw white/black stuff started happening, he went back to South Africa and also played county cricket in England.

I think the guy that mentioned Martin Love was a bit unfair. In the limited oppertunities he got at the highest level he proved he was good enough. In some ways he was an over achiever not under achiever.

I think that Zoysa has to be put on this list, he started off his career being talked of as the next Vaas and a potential all rounder 8-) . His bowling has never reached any real highs (it improving but and injuries have lowed his pace) and his batting well it improving and the 40 aganist Australia showed his abilty to go with that potential he showed at the start of his career. I don't think he'll be much more then a good No 9 but.

Cricketer Of The Year
Dippenaar
Ganga (Awesome technique)
M.Waugh (Had a good international career but should have made more big hundreds, highest score 153)
Kambli (Incredibly talented should have played a lot more tests)
Lehmann (Had a couple of good series but flopped too often)
Kapali (Huge potential)
Agarkar
Ian Harvey (Very talented never made an international fifty)
Hauritz

How can you forget Craig Mcmillan. This guy could tear up bowling attack when he is in form.
He isnt most of the time, thats the problem.

thats a bit stiff. he did average 40, and was more of a guy who didn't get the opportunity. wasn't even "dropped" as such from the team, had to make way for people coming back from injury.

I don't know why people would nominate sinclair, if anything he has been an overacheiever, he just is not up to the standard of playing against the aussie bowlers and top class bowlers, he isnt bad though, against other teams he would probably average 40. But against real top bowling he would struggle to get past 20.

What about Gunawardene, talked about as the next Jaysuriya but never really should what he could do on the international stage

I disagree. He has a good techique IMO, and if they didnt force him to open, he could have turned into a very good player.

Someone like Sinclair, who either scores 200 or doesnt get to double figures, are the WORST choices to open the batting! Exposed against the new ball, they have very little hope of getting a start.

I agree that he should never have opened but even then at 4, I never really had confidence in him. I felt he tried real hard but couldnt handle the pressure and against good bowlers just isnt good enough.
I like him but I wouldn't pick him in the NZ test team in the near future.
