I don’t mean physically but he was pretty unsuccessful there and complained about the pitches. Unlike Steyn who dominated on SC pitches, and even while tweeting about the recent IPL, he didn’t say it’s the worst time to be a bowler or crib, but that the incentives to be successful had never been higher. Matter of perception

Yeah but according to Imran's biography, Lillee faced dead pitches in Pakistan that series but was trying his arse off, it rose Lillee in his reputation.

Steyn is the guy who will go from awesome in one test to slunking his shoulders in the next. Very much a mood bowler.

Pujara also . I don’t think any person who watched Gabba Test in 2021 will disagree . Got hit so many times . But didn’t give up .

Ben Stokes and Laxman are also obvious ones .

John Bracewell
NZ offspinner of the 1980s and coach in the 2000s. Also uncle of Michael and Doug.

Took 10 wickets for the match to win a test match and series vs Australia in 1986 and scored a fighting 100 for NZ to win a test series for the 1st time in England. Was aggressive for a spin bowler.
